Five minutes of hate news

Climate Activists in the Uffizi Gallery in Italy were literally dragged away from a painting by staff after attempting to glue their hands to a Renaissance era Panel Painting named Primavera (or Spring) created by Sandro Botticelli sometime in the 1470's or 1480's.

Apparently this is the latest in a series of actions where environmentalists target famous artworks for awareness purposes and to target the wealthy and powerful who invest in such artworks and put them on public display.

The campaign continues!

This group called 'Just Stop Oil' poured tomato soup on the Van Gogh painting 'Sunflowers' This series of paintings was first made in 1887 by the famous artist and is estimated to be worth over $80 million dollars. Thankfully the painting itself was protected by a glass covering, though apparently the UK based climate activists somehow managed to damage the frame.

Right because hundreds of year old painting displays are really what's going to help or hurt the environment.

The reasoning of one of the financial backers of these radical groups, the CEF (Climate Emergency Fund), a Los Angeles based activism group is apparently as follows:

Fox News said:
"We're in this kind of surreal situation in which scientists are telling us this is the point of no return. And yet all of our institutions — they're all just marching forward with a little bit of window dressing talk about sustainability, but basically continuing as usual," Margaret Klein Salamon, CEF's executive director, said in a statement shared with Fox News Digital.

"So these activists intervene and they say, 'Things are not normal. They're so bad that I'm gonna do this crazy thing and glue myself to a painting or a frame.' It only makes sense because of how absolutely terrible the climate emergency is," Salamon continued.

Just Stop Oil, the group that committed this operation, put it more succinctly.

Fox News said:
"What use is art when we face the collapse of civil society?" Just Stop Oil said in a statement following the action. "The art establishment, artists and the art-loving public need to step up into Civil Resistance if they want to live in a world where humans are around to appreciate art."

"What use is art?"

Jesus Christ, these people have been failed by education and culture. Art is what seperates man from the common animal.
It elevates people, it inspires them, it allows artists to show how they see the world. Without art, we'd be little better than ants and termites and bees, only existing to serve the hive and spreading out to consume and control.

Well if they think art (and therefore aesthetics) is so pointless, then I guess they won’t mind living in this concrete cell and wearing this snazzy orange jumpsuit….

Shit like this is why I think the west is in for civilizational civil wars

Much like in the early 1900's the generations that lived no longer understood the reasons their forebears had built the institutions designed to prevent a repeat of the Napoleonic wars...

We're hitting the point where not only do people not remember World War II, but the Millennials have little to no memory of the Cold War, and the Zoomers have no memory of what a world at serious war looks like at all.

Generation X at least remembers the Cold War. As long as they are the predominant leadership, there'll still be some level of restraint. Once they've mostly retired/died off, odds are basically all restraints will be released.

And, of course, it's always possible a 'black swan' event could precipitate a massive war before then.

Getting your kids playing Fallout and/or the Long Dark would not be a horrible idea.

Also C&C: Red Alert as well.

If I'd know Putin was going to go this retarded right as we were 'recovering' from both a lab-fuckery source endemic disease and stolen election 10 years ago, or even 5 years, I would have made a lot of life decisions differently.
