A bunch of rich investors being able to levy the government to eminent domain another person's property, so that they can build (or not build) whatever they want is such a corrupt, fucked up, un-American thing that I don't even have words to fully describe it.eminent domain for economic development reasons alone is cancer and needs to have the supreme court case that allowed it overturned. I'm all for allowing it for infrastructure and the like but for anything else can be given a whiff of grapeshot to the face in my POV. If nothing else how damm often do the developers decide nah we've changed our minds after getting the local/state government to have expelled people from their property and having in many cases torn it down? Or the city turns around and sells the prime real estate to the friend or family of someone in the city government.
So just because someone has more money than you, they can just be like "hey yeah I plan to do something here, you gotta go."
It makes property ownership essentially meaningless.
Let's see how the city council votes.
