The conservatives have let themselves get screwed over on environmental politics, and it's is completely unnecessary. If conservatives really want to grab onto a current social issue and use it to pull in moderates, the environmental arena is one of their best shots.
The problem is, the Dems will styme any environmental plan the GOP puts up, simply so they don't get a 'win' on that issue.
Another way for the GOP to win is to put forth a federal level pot legalization bill, before the Dems do, a month or so before the election. Watch the Dem establishment shit a brick when the GOP goes with that as a platform.
