Geographic choke points don't care how disillusioned you are with the government of the US, they will remain important to all global trade.

This isn't about how much of our manufacturing is local vs. outsourced; it isn't even about issues with directly shipping stuff to or from the US. It's about how them fucking with random ships transiting the Red Sea drives up the costs for everyone participating in global trade. The US loves to do this and profits greatly from it, but we're hardly the only one. That may be why close allies of ours like Russia and China haven't lifted a finger in protest. Well, Russia might be tasteless enough to denounce the strikes, but it still chose not to oppose the UN Security Council resolution that preceded them.
Ironically, China could score some brownie points here if they actually sent their second-rate navy in to permanently deal with the Houthis and bomb the shit out of Iran, since China isn't constrained like the US and the Coalition are.
Of course everyone sane would want that prevented though because China.
But yeah, butcher the fucking Houthis and punch Iran in the bollocks. Hell, if We don't do it, I think Pakistan is going to at this rate.
