Hamas Launches Offensive Against Southern Israel

So rumors going around the two SEALs 'lost at sea' trying to board that boat smuggling Iranian arms to Yemen were actually killed by Iranians and the Navy is covering it up for 'de-escalation purposes'.

Entirely possible, but...well...the seas have been killing highly trained people for millennia.
True, but a 10 day SAR that hasn't even found the bodies, when people were right in the area when it happened during the boarding attempt...

I could buy that in the Bering, or somewhere with less US and allied warships relatively nearby, or somewhere out in the deep reaches away from major shipping lanes.

But with so many US forces right in the area, including the group attempting the boarding action and the anti-piracy stuff already there for years...doesn't smell right.

Biden hiding Iran/Iranian proxies killing SEALs during a boarding action however seems very much in line with how Biden and DC have been acting for years now.

America just exited a 20 year war in the sandbox, and our social system is so fucked right now that there is no way we can socially handle another insurgent war with the same leadership that fucked up the last one. So yeah makes sense. Expecially since we no longer need middle eastern oil.

I think you need to ease off the meme's about the ME and look a little closer at what is actually happening/likely to happen in a current conflict.

No one wants the US to invade Iran or Yemen, just bomb them till they stop being a threat to international shipping and in retaliation for killing/injuring our dudes.

So no need to worry about another 'insurgent war' if the Navy admits that Iranian proxies killed 2 US SEALs, just putting a few more Tomahawks in the air.

Even if it's not just another sandbox, Americans don't want another war. The last twenty years have basically drained you all of that capability for now. It's not just a capability thing but a psychological/optic thing, too.

However, regardless of that, bombing Iran's military infrastructure on at least the coastal areas should be done, as well as turning every single Houthi into meat paste from the air. If necessary, destroy Iran's oil refineries and fuck the country completely. Remove them from the board.

Glass the fuckers from the air.

There is a difference between war and pest control; fighting the CCP would be the former, glassing the Houthi's would be the latter.

The US public needs to realize the rest of the world isn't going to stop doing stupid shit just because we hate how A-stan and Iraq went, and that us being gunshy against legitimate threats will only make them more costly and painful to handle down the road.

Well, yeah, but you know what they say about people: A person is smart; people are stupid (to bastardize a quote from Men in Black).

Remove the idiots who fucked up the last war, because their clearly too stupid to win the next one.

That's the goal of November, hopefully.

But we should not wait to handle direct, immediate threats like the Houthi's have become due to their targeting of international shipping in support of Hamas.

Do you want more people to feel emboldened enough to try to repeat Oct 7th?

I mean the Houthi's are still launching attacks on Israel as well as shipping, so not like the US is dealing with this alone or without friends in the area. The Brits and French are helping too, and even the Italians are trying to be useful.

Barcle while you have a point you cant win a war with these idiots in the hot seat.

They had 20 fucking years and they screwed up at every stage of the fight you go to war with them on the helm your just going to be flushing blood and treasure down the shitter.

...you really don't like being told you are overreacting, do you?

You toss that r into my name when you get annoyed, I've noticed.

Maybe you need to realize that dealing with the Houthi's is not the same as A-stan or Iraq, is not a 'war' at all, and is a situation we cannot ignore just because we don't like how Iraq and A-stan went.

You are being stubbornly obtuse on this, because admitting we need to deal with the Houthi's now means admitting this isn't just another 'insurgency fight in the sandbox'.

Neither Iraq nor A-stan sat astride the Bab Al Mendeb, and geographic chokepoints don't care about any domestic issues in the US.

The enemy gets a vote too, and this is not a situation that we can just ignore, unless we want the cost of shipping anything anywhere to rise massively and for a long time.

You want to save money at home, don't let the Houthi's keep forcing ships to go around South Africa instead of through the Suez due to insurance rates.

People don't realize rhe enemy always gets a vote.
And the vote here is that uf we do not do anything it is heavily possible shipping and trade will skyrocket in price and things will get a lot rougher for everyone to live off of what inflation we already have

A lot of people don't get how the price of a shipping container and how long it is tied down on one job has a massive impact on the price of pretty much everything in one way or another.

A good video from a couple weeks ago about how this affecting the supply chain, not even the military situation.

'War Risk Insurance' is something I expect not many people like @Cherico have thought much about.

If people want a non-military perspective on how this is all affecting the world wide economy, this is a great channel.

The problem with "not wanting another war" is that, well, if the other side wants a war, what do you do? It takes only one party to start a war, you can act silly and ignore the war being waged against you, but that's it.
Houthis openly attack US owned ships, and it's the least surprising military aggression in history as they literally have "God Is the Greatest, Death to America, Death to Israel, A Curse Upon the Jews, Victory to Islam" written on their flag...
I think the message which they are trying to send is clear enough and deserves a reply.
They should be treated as Iran's pet ISIL.

Oh it's not the fighting that was screwed up, and not the war that was not won.
It's just that "nation building" in the third world is often a lost cause, one especially impossible to succeed at while limited by western political brainbugs, restrictions and ideologies.
Western militaries, when interacting with these shitholes, would be wise to stick to nation destroying, they are decent at that.

Fair point; but at the end of the day, none of us are the ones with the power to make the decisions regarding this, are we? The people who get to decide what America does are Biden's handlers, whoever they are.

I think it would be very possible to cover up the state of the bodies if their state irrefutably proves something the US doesn't want known. I think that would be less effort than the effort wasted on (hypothetically) 9 or 10 days of unnecessary SAR. In other words, that piece of evidence doesn't support either side to me. It only says they had a hard time finding the bodies.

Even Biden's handlers are getting to the point they know they cannot allow the situation to continue.

It's more the Houthi's have weapons that can threaten US bases in Djoubuti and the rest of the ME, and US air defense assets are getting spread thin.

So getting enough air defense into the region to cover everything we need to defend from Houthi missiles is not a small or quick task.

We aren't even an empire.

Nor is this a quiet situation, as the amount of shit going on inside the shipping and transport world alone is insane, and Hamas is still in the process of being exterminated while teh Houthi's have fucked around are going to be subject to an extended bombing campaign like we did in the Balkans against Milosevic's troops.

Maybe lay off the doomer memes for a couple of days and actually get informed about the actual issues in play.
