Which would show just how good intel they have and that many denizens of Gaza are willing to snitch on their immaculately glorious defenders.

I wouldn't go that far. You can gather intel in a various amount of ways. From traditional spies and turncoats to access to advance drones or satellite equipment that can monitor movement. Hell, even hacking into cell phones and smart phones. If you can tag a known terrorist and you also tag the areas he tends to visit the most, you have an idea. Not to mention any sort of technological solution that the Israelis might have come up with to locate the tunnels.

Hey, it is a valid tactic

It may not be enough though, depending on the goal. Israel seems more willing than before to simply occupy Palestinian regions, but that would mean urban warfare, which would be costly and might burn up what little political capital the Israeli PM has left. And it seems he is intent on gaining political capital from this, not losing it.

That isn't great for the situation though. Word has it that Hamas impart launched this attack to boost their ratings for their own coming elections. Losing this fight would be a political disaster within the Palestinian regions and they'd lose out to their rivals. Therefore, they're going to want to keep launching rockets until it gets to the point that they can either declare some kind of victory (even if it's a pyric one) or until doing so only furthers to weaken Hamas. The same goes for the Israeli government. Because the harder Hamas hits them, the harder they hit back in order to support their own weakening position within Israel.

Of course they'll keep doing that - it's worked wonders to get the rich libtards running most Western countries to condemn Israel for defending themselves.

Actually, most liberals appear to be on the side of Israel. The far-left and the progressives are furious at Israel, but a lot of that energy is being focused in raging against the media and the US Government--such as President Biden, for not denouncing Israel and siding with Palestine. It's rather stark just how much of a cold shoulder the center left is giving the more far left on this matter.

Hearing Iron Dome is running low on interceptors, while reports suggest Hezbollah and the Al-Asqa Brigade in the West Bank are starting to look at getting involved. Militarily, this has probably been the best performance by Hamas so far, with some pretty strong evidence suggesting their missile capabilities are much improved over previous conflicts as far as targeting abilities. If Hezbollah and groups in the West Bank do get involved, the IDF is going to seriously have a fight on its hands.

Welp, this is going to be interesting.

Then again, that is probably why Israel has been pushing its laser interceptor system so hard. They probably know that this was an eventuality but that eventuality is coming faster than initially suspected.

It's a pretty consistent problem that crops up in Western vs Eastern fighting. On an individual basis, Western weapons and the like give them an unparalleled advantaged and allows for the lopsided casualty rates we see in such conflicts. The issue comes, however, from the same vein that Stalin one noted; quantity is a quality all of its own. Iron Dome has a 90% interception rate but each interceptor costs up to $100,000 a piece. Hamas, meanwhile, produce rockets for a few hundred dollars. They are pretty shitty individually, but make enough of them and throw in a little bit of quality among them, and you get results like we are seeing.

That ignores all sorts of things that go into combat systems. Quantity is not a quality on its own if the equipment can't make a dent in the opposing forces. There is a minimum combat effectiveness requirement that people keep forgetting exists... although it has been consistently (comparatively) low until the Cold War.

According to the IDF's twitter feed, Hamas was using the Al Jazeera building as an HQ for intelligence operations.

Note that this is a chain of several tweets so probably better to read the whole list where they break it down.

But AP News swears they didn't know the building was used by Hamas...

Even when Hamas fighters stormed their offices after reporting a rocket launch in the area... they didn't make the connection! They're journalists after all, how could you expect them to make such connections? 😁

How much more so, when understanding it will get you a bullet in the back of the head.

Sure, but in this case we know the Hamas rockets are making a dent by subjecting the Israelis to attrition; Hamas can build a lot more cheap rockets than the IDF can build Tamirs. A lot of the commentary on this conflict notes that this sort of high pressure situation can force Iron Dome to its saturation point.

Has there been any evidence put forward besides the IDF claiming this was the case?

IT was verified years ago by a former AP press member that the AP press was working with Hamas and reporters who didn't toe the line and report Hamas' story got killed. Consequently it's pretty much impossible to get evidence outside of the IDF, you're literally asking for either Hamas or people Hamas is holding at gunpoint to corroborate with Israel.

On another note, Joe Biden is going to visit the same city where Arab-Americans have been protesting for Palestinian independence. Really hoping they keep up the energy and show up at his location, imagine the potential to get egg on his face, as the saying goes.

Consider this tweet, the replies just barely edge out the likes in a slim ratio:

People are NOT happy with this framing of the clashes.

There's been a lot of deeply thoughtful and informed discourse on Twitter pertaining to this conflict.
