That's an interesting point. So Bush and Biden survived due to being illegitimate, and Reagan was a zombie and, being already dead, was exempt.

Reagan survived because the prompt care of doctors ensured that Hinckley's bullet wouldn't kill him. Had he gotten to the hospital later, he might have very well died due to chronic blood loss. As it was, he was already on the edge when he got to the hospital.

Bush and Biden survived due to them being perceived as being illegitimate by a large part of the US population even if/though they weren't actually illegitimate. Apparently perceptions matter much more than reality for this curse.

In theory, here's how it goes:

Prosecutor: "Here's the evidence."
Grand Jury: "That's acceptable"
Prosecutor: "Here's the evidence"
Defense: "I refute all of that"
Petit Jury: "We'll deliberate and return a verdict"

Judge: "Everyone, please follow the rules because I'd prefer it if the only thing I have to do is open a book to look one up."

I think there will be a row of pardons next republican adminstration.

The democrats badly over played their hand on this and made this pretty personal so presidential pardons will be given out as an outgoing F-you.

The deep state only has so much money, only so much resources and only so much power. Their a collection of unelected buracrats who have grossly oversteeped their bounds, a collection of various activist groups who are more of a cult then willing to do anything useful, and a collection of the wealthy who think they can control and manipulate everything to their benifit and then flee with all the cash when it comes tumbling down.

This is a group that has fully drank their own koolaid, they have decades of power in them but they will not rule forever.
 
Frankly, the 2020-2021 autocoup attempt needs to be investigated and, if necessary, prosecuted to the full extent of the law. I could forgive a SCOTUS ruling deciding a closely decided election by several hundred votes, or even the theft of a SCOTUS seat, but not this.
