In some cases, it could be a matter of cultural expectations. The woman wanting to pay her share might be trying to say: "I want to be your helpmeet, not a sponge on you."

Yeah but that's not the case is the thing also MGTOW are cowards I've made this prettyckest in thread on them. I seriously have and continue to try and help these guys even back in the PM. As I didnt have a dad since he passed when I was young. So I try to impart what I know to these dudes. You can believe what you want to the internet isnt real life contrary to popular belief. When it comes to dating issues, I’m reminded of CS Lewis’ essay on chivalry. To summarize, Lewis talks about the importance of chivalry - which is basically that men should be masculine and manly but use it in an honorable way.

He wasn’t talking about relationships, but rather society in general, but I’ll apply that to relationships. For western society to return to healthy interaction between men and women, ideally men should be masculine and manly, not let women walk all over him, in fact he should be dominant in his relationships with women. Along the same lines, he shouldn’t just sleep around with slutty girls, he should seek out virtuous women who would make good wives and mothers. Basically, he should use his masculine virtues to attract women with feminine virtues. In fact, I think I would apply the reverse advice to women - use feminine virtues to attract men with manly virtues.

There might be a inclination to think that a truly virtuous woman can see past such things as masculinity and will be attracted to a man for being nice or smart or moral - but this isn’t so. Even saintly girls are going to want men who can turn them on, which means manly and dominant, and if they are girls with admiral qualities themselves, they will have some degree of choice in that regard. Also, masculinity is a virtue in many important senses - it is courage, it’s determination, it’s the will and ability to defend himself, his family, and his people. Women who aren’t attracted to a guy too shy to ask them out are justifiably showing preference for courage and in this our increasingly chaotic world, that’s not just instinctual, it’s wise.
