Or perhaps the youth are tired of the same excuses for the economic woes of this nation and this generation that parents accepted, are tired of acting like the system will ever let the non-connected get ahead, and tired of the absurd cost of healthcare in the US after Biden undid Trump's price cuts.

Not to mention the fact that they don't truly get the horrors of socialism, or think the problems are overblown, and see it as a viable alternative to our current system.

The Dems are seeing the pay-off from their slow March through the institutions, the Wu Flu is showing how fragile our just-in-time capitalism is, and how many parts of it were only surviving off inertia, so I'm kinda not surprised by the numbers.

The Right has been trying to play the old game for too long, instead of adapting and countering the Dems actions, and now the Dems are in control of the culture and institutions.

If the Right ever truly makes a come back to the point they were at under Trump, it'll take a miracle and a lot of stupidity on the Dems part.

No one should expect the GOP to gain ground in the midterms, because the Dems will rig it anywhere they can, and where they don't need to rig things they already control the populace.

Trump was the Rights last, best hope, and I think we will see the Dems continue to rig any election that could actually meaningfully threaten thier power.

Yes, talking to those sorts of people does usually turn a person off to socialism.

But not many people these days are in positions to talk to those sorts, and there are some who would just place the blame on the US for 'forcing' those nations to take said measures.

To many people, they think 'real' socialism has never been tried, or has been continually undermined by the West/capitalism.

Do not underestimate the lies and deceptions that the modern media and academia have spun regarding socialism.

Theoretically, yes.

Realistically, how many of those defectors and people with real first hand experience under socialist rule are going to be in a position to talk to them? And how many of the neo-socialist would actually be interested or willing to listen, assuming they get the chance?

I think you take for granted that people are generally aware of the horrors of socialism and the experiences of defectors from those nations.

We know because we are already aware of how horrible socialism can be, and are trying to fight it; that is not generally the case with most of the youth, or most of the nation, really.

Oh please, if anyone thinks you can just sit these people down and talk them out of socialism, you're insane.

They've chosen their ideology, and they're going to stick to it. This is how people who get indoctrinated into ideologies like this work. This isn't doom posting, this isn't pessimistic, this is how ideologues work.

Statistically, sure, some will change...but most of these people have made up their minds. They will ignore or explain away any points against socialism that are made to them.

But by all means, if you find some who are even willing to hold a rational conversation with you, go for it.

The right has also been screaming "that's socialism!" to practically every government proposal they didn't think of first for decades. Kinda shot themselves in the foot with that one.

It could be something as benign as a small town deciding to get rid of all the parking meters because they're a waste of everyone's time. Someone, somewhere, is going to complain that free parking for all everywhere in town is "evil socialism".

Not necessarily. If the town is small enough it might cost the town more to collect and count the change fed to the parking meters than the meters and associated parking tickets bring in because the locals usually don't use the metered parking spaces.

Sadly we don't have a smart conservative president. If we did we could use this to drive a wedge between the EU. Literally support the eastern Europeans(since they are weaker) and offer them financial support for leaving the EU.

It's okay, it doesn't matter. Blacks can't be racist. Modern society has determined that blacks can't be responsible for themselves, it's racism of some stripe or another that keeps them down and they'll never succeed because of the colour of their skin. They're just not capable. Or at least that's what I hear SJWs and Neo Nazis saying. Maybe they're right.
