I know you hate the thread title, but I'm trying to help you. First I'll address the right-side of the room, as I know you're probably screaming traitor. Then I'll address the left-side of the room, who needs their own talking to on the subject, less we forget the past four years.
So yeah, Biden is you legitimate president. How can that be if he cheated? Well, it boils down to how President Trump's own legal team presented their argument to the state legislators. The argument was that constitutionally, the Democrats and left-sympathizing officials/judges had changed the laws of the election in several states at the last minute. These changes allowed the Democrats to allegedly shove hundreds of thousands of illegal mail-in-votes through the system. The state legislators however, held the actual constitutional power to change those laws, not those officials/judges. And if they were to take action, they could force the rules back. They argued this while presenting witnesses who themselves spoke of a slew of incidents that pointed to not just cheating, but thinly veiled election fraud. From what little I do understand--and assuming that the legal team wasn't outright lying, the state legislators did hold that power.
And they were all dominated by Republicans. And they CHOSE to do nothing.
Those of you who have ever watched a sporting event and seen a ref dismiss an obvious penalty have no doubt experienced something like this before. The foul was obvious and blatant, but the referee, being the arbiter of what is and is not fair--grants legitimacy to the play. Yes, even if objectively the player did cheat and foul the opposing team for an advantage. This wasn't even a Democrat dominated state legislator; these were Republicans. The people who should have been willing to go to the wall for President Trump. Those legislators occupy positions of authority and responsibility, but never before had any of them had such an immense responsibility thrust upon them. An choosing to act in favor of the President might have caused a second civil war.
Now, I'm going to ask that you hold your comments, no doubt witty and true, towards the end. I can imagine you have a thousand points about how allowing blatant cheating to mire the good image of the Union is just as much as using legal mechanisms to switch the vote to a favored candidate. I also can't imagine that the obvious behavior of the Democratic party's attempts to stonewall the Republicans from any sort of investigation does anything but make you angrier. And you'd be right. Stonewalling political rivals to allow others to cheat on your behalf is depraved.
And now you must set aside that anger and look at it from a Democratic voter's point of view. The mail-in-ballots in their mind was a necessity to allow legitimate voters a chance to kick the Orange Menace from his office. It was an emergency in a time during a global pandemic. It was only natural that the people should have a slight change to the voting process to prevent a mass spread of the Wuhan. And if you look at their point of view afterwards, you could also see how they feel as thought he Republicans might be the one's cheating. The vote was caste and then the Republicans try to rule-lawyer the results in their favor. Because we all know that it's relatively easy to throw out mail-in-ballots. So maybe before you go calling them all cheaters, keep in mind the following:
--- Even if your beliefs in what happened are 100% correct, 99% of the Democratic Party was not in on it. ---
So stop treating them like they're the enemy out to get you.
Especially when you have hundreds of thousands of people new to mail-in-voting, those people are going to make mistakes. And they know that if a Republican poll watcher sees one missing dotted i or one uncrossed t, they are going to get it thrown out. And so you might have poll watchers getting fed up with the Republicans for being too stringent on what might otherwise be a legitimate vote, because they're trying to rig the game. And hey, those ballots that were poorly handled...should the government really punish trusting voters because they fucked up the process? Surely not. Or so their reasoning would go. And that would give them every legitimate motivation to prevent the Republicans from tossing those votes out.
So I must be saying "it's okay to cheat, so long as you don't get caught" or something along those lines, right? No. Absolutely not. But what I am saying is that you need to focus your attention on the real problem you have here; those who played referee. The state legislators were the ones who confirmed the counts and who had the constitutional powers to address your grievances. I realize that all of you don't live in those states that were affected (I do), so you cannot all participate, but what we can all focus on is removing those individuals whose judgement we no longer trust from their positions of power. Then you put people you do trust into those positions and you make damn sure that they are fully intent on clarifying the rules of the election and standing by them--before the actual election, NOT after the ballots have already been cast.
Because the path you're all are heading down, is the Republican version of "Not My President". And it may make you feel good, but it won't really do anything but make you look petulant to those who aren't as sure as you about the legitimacy of Biden. And really, it just all makes you look retarded. And will get some of you arrested. The fucking bullshit of taking up arms against the government or wishing death upon President Biden--when you all bitched for years about how unfair it was for that to be done to you is weak. You don't need to turn the other cheek, but you don't need to act as retarded as the far leftists who screamed for Trump's blood for the past 4 years. Trump brought 10-20 million new voters to the Republican party. You have a path forward. Stop screaming at every little liberal thing the Biden Administration does. As if no other Republican could possibly lose in the future and some of the obvious Republican stuff wasn't going to get overturned.
And to that end, we need to stop giving large quarter to those in the Republican side of the equation leniency to spout off stupid shit. I warned all of you about that QAnon bullshit, of people like Tim Pool, and those who are so painfully, obviously trying to get a fat paycheck for riling you up. And you all didn't listen. I've seen high school cheerleader teams with more sense when it comes to wild rumors than you lot. I can't tell you how much of that QAnon bullshit made its way into the general consciousness because people here were happy to spread any rumor--even rumors from those of dubious merit or rumors that lacked any sense of sanity, to anyone who would listen.
I get it, the past few months was a hotbed for any rumor mill. And we know the Democrats did the same thing when the shoe was on the other foot. Like Trump's supposed pee sex party. Or the constant Russia Hoax where they perpetuated every bullshit rumor that anyone told them, regardless of how absurd it was. And how completely and utterly lacking in actual content it was, aside from minor prosecutions, some of which were obviously bullshit. So try and remember just how stupid the Democrats looked during the whole Russia Hoax thing and think about how YOU might look. Vote for secure elections. Vote for legislators who will keep to their oath.
Don't look like morons while trying to do it, please? I realize that asking a group of people who are two steps behind marching to DC dressed as a Wookie to act with some dignity is a tall order, but I have faith in you.
And now, for those of you on the left side of the room. All that talk of "coming together" or "healing" is a load of horse shit and you all know it. Your side has done nothing but demonize Trump from day one and your hypocrisy is almost unbearable. Four years ago, you all gathered in mass numbers to protest and some of you even rioted. And while you may not have thought so, your side very casually excused the violence as "the natural result of such a tyrant coming to power". And you continued that trend for four years, denying the existence of ANTIFA or the violent behaviors sometimes shown by BLM. During this past summer, you all turned a blind eye to CHAZ, Antifa, BLM, and others who rioted; burning and looting the very communities you say you cherished and you screamed and kicked at any sign from the Trump Administration sending in troops to restore order.
And then the moment a few hundred (or thousand) Trump supporters do the same thing, you call in the national guard and put DC under lockdown until March. Literal chain-link fences, law enforcement, and guns were used by the party that for the past four years, has demonized all three to its most extreme extent. And while I expect that the vast majority of you didn't shed a single tear for Antifa and BLM rioters who were arrested and taken to the cleaners, the constant accusations of racism against the right has worn thing with everyone. The Republican party is not the wholesale party of racists and former slavers. You want to talk about inherited privileges? Go ask Kamal Harris about her family's long history of slavery.
And the whole "Trump incited a riot" line? Drop it. I agree, Trump was horribly irresponsible in how he handled that protest. Pushing his belief on a rigged election and gathering a large crowd of disgruntled followers while they digested every bullshit part of the QAnon conspiracy was the DUMBEST thing he has done as President. Or in his life. And we all know that Trump has done a lot of stupid things. But even if Trump had done it on purpose? Your own politicians--Pelosi, AOC, Schumer, Harris, and others encouraged the rioters over the summer. The only difference is that those rioters burned, looted, and murdered the helpless people in the streets. The Trump mob was going after the least popular group of people on the planet, who were swiftly defended with the National Guard. No one at CNN, FOX, ABC, or MSNBC remembers the names of the people who died in those riots--but they sure as hell can't let the fact that five people died during the capital hill riot out of the news, weeks after the event.
You have NO moral standing to preach about political violence being bad. Your side was engaging in it since last summer. Of course, after this, the Republicans have lost their right to grandstand. But there was a stark difference. Left-wing mayors, governors, and district attorneys refused to prosecute or otherwise dismissed cases against rioters and agitators, who would be released on celebrity-funded bail bonds (those same worthless pieces of shit who like to sing "We Are the World"). Only when the Feds got involved were these people actually put to some consequence. The left shielded their own. Meanwhile, in the aftermath of the capital hill riot, Trump not only left those same people in the wind, but he wholly condemned them for their actions.
You should probably be ready to vomit when the Shitlord-in-Chief is acting more responsible than the big names of the Democratic Party. Because Trump could have gone out and excused their violence, quoting your own side "no one said that protests had to be peaceful" and then pardoned the entire mob. He didn't. Even if that's the only moderately decent thing you think Trump ever did, keep in mind that the big names in your party didn't do that. It took Pelosi months of ignoring the riots to finally condemn them. Months.
Pitiful. Disgusting. Inexcusable.
So do what your party leaders have preached and have never once followed through on; try being empathetic and accepting that given the intense situation, the worldwide pandemic, and actions that might be construed as suspicious could persuade the Republicans that the Democrats might have cheated. And then maybe remember that a lot of your own side were screaming about Russia rigging the election just four years ago. Left-wing comedians were holding Trump's severed head, you had literal New York productions involving stabbing the US president, and constant race-whistles deployed against Trump and his voters for years. And even now, people like AOC (granted, it's AOC--but still) calling for blacklisting Trump and his supporters from politics.
You talk about healing and empathy, but thus far, you've all done a piss-poor job of it. I mean, your side is now in the middle of its SECOND impeachment against Trump, an impeachment that holds only slightly more merit than the last one. And it's being done out of pure spite.
So yeah, Biden is you legitimate president. How can that be if he cheated? Well, it boils down to how President Trump's own legal team presented their argument to the state legislators.
