I still think that preventing WWIII, investigating Biden's criminality and his son's pedophilia and tackling double digit inflation are better causes to fight for and that this is a trap.

You're right, but one of the biggest things that the country has to deal with is that both party's are being reorganized and the new right, absolutely reviles the GOP leadership and that hatred is spilling out into a contempt for conservatism as a whole which I do think is them misdirecting their fury.

For the religious right, this is a battle against diabolical evil and its as important as the ones you mentioned if not more so as preventing abortions means more soldiers in the army of Christ.

For the rest of us? We believe conservatives owe us. Because 2016 wouldn't have happened without the New Right nor would anything else good that's come of the national awakening and redpilling. It was our asses on the line and in many cases conservatives not liking our tone were among the first to plunge the knives in our backs.

Ending Abortion is a thing conservatives have promised the rest of us since the Reagan era.

It's about time they deliver on their promise and prove to us they can find their 80's and 80's balls again, also y'know pay a debt owed to the 25,000,000 unborn who were senselessly murdered since 1996.

tldr: the Conservative elements of the right need this victory, if they can't deliver on this promise after nearly half a century then they can't be counted on to achieve the other goals.

It's an optics thing, much as I hate optics..also its a "lets stop the American genocide finally..please" thing. Because that's real and abortion is murder.

Well, you know my opinions on the subject as a secular rightwinger.
I ain't throwing any energy into an anti-abortion debate, and I am generally vehimently on the side of maximum freedom and minimum money being taken from my pocket to subsidize other people's idiocy.

Yeah, the leftards are a death cult around this issue, but I always thought that it makes them self-removing garbage DNA.

So, here's the thing. On a broad level, I'm in agreement with Agent in that I think abortion is a boring issue that's a waste of time, and I aggressively attempt not to learn anything about it for that reason.

But because of that, I largely don't comment on abortion much because I don't care. Loudly, repeatedly going on and on about how much you shouldn't care about abortion just indicates the opposite. The pro-life got their victory, the pro-choice got their defeat, and now they'll go on about it. Whatever. They've been doing it for 50 years, they'll do it for 50 more. I'm not going to begrudge them for doing it.

Like I said, there are realpolitik reasons to do this and for the remnants of the old religious right they don't give a fuck about what any of us think. To them this is opposing a genocide based around ritualized child sacrifice.

And I used to laugh at them for it, twenty years ago but now? I kinda see it..Granted I think its less demon worship like Wally George used to call it and more the "Secular baptisms" (Aka drown you in a lake in the name of Social Deconstructivism.) the Sans Cu Lott used to do to Catholic nine year olds who wouldn't become fedora tippers.

It's secular jihadism, or the old Deconstructivism of the French Revolution come back but whatever, irregardless of who they do the ritual to, it has become a ritual to these fucking people.

To me it is just the type of frozen conflict that the hard base of both political parties loves to keep around, just to fire up the base of idiots and piss the other side off.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes, the only winning move is not to play and so forth.

I'd argue that the SC DID break the circle. And then threw it on the ground and stepped on it.

Or, at least when they actually over turn it, that will be the case.
