Bit of a stretch, but I often think back to Ancient Rome in the 3rd century BC whenever people like Noodles start letting their despair get the best of them.Lord Sovereign calling you out for demoralization is very apt. Things are bleak, and in many ways getting worse, but it's not all one-sided, and as always with the cycles of civilization, the more damage is dealt, the more people wake up and realize what's really going on.
Whether we're in terminal decline, or approaching the nadir of another cycle of decay and reform, remains to be seen.
After that Battle of Cannae, where the cream of the crop of Rome’s men were cut down in a single day by Hannibal, the City looked to be on the verge of falling. I don’t think the Romans were ever truly in a tighter spot than they were then, but did they give up?
No. The Senate found new leadership, then outlawed the mere mention of surrender. They stuck it out, they raised more legions, and guess who won in the end?
If one is defeated in mind, he is defeated in battle. We must not do our enemy’s work for them.
