The Americas The Tyranny of Trudeau's Canada

The hell is a Sigma? Besides a letter in the Greek alphabet (?) .
Its a weird internet thing that probably started as a 4chan psyop. They're basically alphas without the bluster, also known as functional adults. Its incredibly cringy and I hope this one dies before it can proliferate.

To summarize what I've been able to see since I started paying attention to politics in 2011...

Liberals: Woke establishment neoliberals. Traditionally always strongly tied to free trade & business interests, particularly big business at that (the old Tories were more aristocratic and protectionist). Used to pretend to be centrists - when I was a kid, my school's vice-principal's husband was the LPC candidate for my riding and was notable as one of the pro-life Liberal MPs - but they threw that to the side and took a blatant far-left turn under Trudeau, so now they cover their corporate cronyism with performative wokeness instead. You can ask Trudeau's First Nations ex-attorney general, Jody Wilson-Raybould, how woke they really are when you threaten their corporate friends and donors - she was fired, kicked out of the Liberal caucus and despite winning the last election as an independent, isn't running again.

NDP: Socialists. Used to be more of a blue-collar working man's party, but since 2011 or so they've drifted fully into idpol land to become the party of unhinged college/uni student activists & multiculti hipsters. This was one of the factors which got them wiped out in Quebec despite having dominated it in 2011; that province is pretty leftist but they don't approve of identitarian pandering that isn't to the Quebecois. The current NDP leader, Jagmeet Singh, is a fairly blatant Sikh separatist and sympathizer toward Sikh terrorists. (Between the Hindus usually favoring the Tories & Muslims favoring the Grits, we've recreated the traditional religious battle-lines of India & Pakistan in red, blue & orange)

Greens: Like many other green parties, they're all for the environment but absolutely can't stand nuclear power, and are generally socially progressive. Their old leader, Elizabeth May, also thought Wi-fi causes cancer; nevertheless her efforts to turn the GPC into a cult of personality worked well enough to eventually get her & a few others seats, only for her to retire anyway shortly after the 2019 election. Now they've found Annamie Paul, a black Jewish woman who calls everyone she doesn't like an -ist of some sort, to replace her: but far from boosting their progressive cred, this has led to the Greens tearing themselves to shreds over the Israeli-Palestinian clashes this past May, with one of their 3 MPs defecting to the Liberals because Paul wasn't sufficiently pro-Palestinian. As a result, they're completely fucked this election.

The Bloc: From what I know, they're a pretty standard social-democrat party outside of the Quebecois nationalism.
Do you know what prompted the general shift left amidst all the Canadian parties? Most countries polarize in two directions generally, but Canada outside of the Plains seems to have just run leftward and never glanced back. Even O'Toole has assured people that he isn't pro-Life, something I would consider a component plank of any conservative coalition.

Canada's generally been more left-wing and socially permissive than the States for a long time, but I think these trends really accelerated in the 2010s thanks to the 2008 American election and the 2011 election here. It was a combination of Obama-mania spreading like a mind virus from across the border + a series of inept, uncharismatic and just thoroughly unappealing Liberal leaders culminating in the elitist, carpetbagging Ignatieff - who was pretty much a caricature of the arrogantly high-handed yet also totally clueless ivory-tower academic given life, and who proved Harper's 'he didn't come back to Canada for you' ads right by leaving to teach at Harvard again after getting his ass beat and the Liberals put in 3rd place in 2011 - that got the LPC to anoint Trudeau their leader, in hopes of replicating Obama's success as a hip, young progressive leader who could mobilize the youth and effectively dabble in identity politics.

It worked in 2015, when Harper's government had grown quite long in the tooth and Trudeau's last name, promise to legalize weed and declarations that he'd create a woke, diverse, gender-balanced cabinet 'because it's 2015' set him apart from the competition & allowed him to eat the NDP's lunch, plus his fresh looks apparently got the cats-and-wine aunt brigade to cream their undergarments. Much less so in 2019 when his government was impacted by numerous scandals, including ones that directly hammered at his woke brand (SNC-Lavalin and Jody Wilson-Raybould, blackface) but he still had lockstep media backing, which helped in keeping the masses placated or outright asleep, so he & the other Liberals learned nothing from that and are just trucking on as usual. Hopefully his luck's thinned even further now and this election goes down as a rebuke of Canada's extreme left turn over the last decade.

In other words, what's wrong with CPC? They seem like the only major right wing party.
Other than that, to me seems like the same story as everywhere else. Liberal parties are just simply a perfect fit to be subverted by progressives and dragged to the left by them, particularly on socio-cultural issues, while on economic ones they remain somewhat liberal. Just like a puzzle piece perfectly shaped for another, when they meet, they link perfectly, liberals may have many disagreements with "old" leftists in economics and hold their ground on account of that, but when progressives with their focus on ideological, culture war matters combined with acceptance of corporate cronyism show up, they just don't have enough disagreement with that to tell them a hard no, something that most conservative and all hardline right nationalist parties do, i see this happening everywhere in the west.

He would probably lose to the squirrel as well, if it were put on the ballot.

Of course, as this point Trudeau would lose to an inanimate carbon rod- I mean at this point one would be a vast improvement over him. IN ROD WE TRUST!

Have they considered doing what some small towns in the states have done, and just elected a dog?

I'm really hoping Trudeau gets shitcanned this election. He's been in power for too long, and no matter how much the media tries to glorify him, he made a mess of a lot of things relating to Corona.

I am concerned that Canadian MSM is fully bought by the Canadian government, which plays in his favor.
