No, call it what it is. Most of the city's activist groups were more socialistic than she was.
Which is natural, because nobody who's got a tomorrow to look forward to will be a genuine subscriber to that cult.

Frankly, I'm still kind of shocked at the upped punishment being so low. For reference, rape itself in California carries 3-8 year punishments (also surprising to me--my state has life imprisonment as an option and otherwise 'not more than 20 years' with 3-5 year 'bonuses' for physical harm of the victim) and statutory rape in California has 4 years in prison...

Like...on one hand 'buyer beware' seems perfectly fair if you're soliciting anyone for sex.

Of course, I can still see why they would do it. "Punishments and harsher policing does nothing" is a dogma among the liberals and progressives, and has been since the 60s. They will dismiss any attempts to make punishments harder as just fancy machismo on the part of conservatives, some pathetic attempt to prove our masculinity by being Tough On Crime (they always capitalize at least two of these words) that will do nothing other than torture people.
And of course, the left has been treating criminals as victims for literal centuries, so that will never do.
