You have people like Mitch McConnell and Pence sucking Zelensky balls 24/7 to no avail. The main candidates are all happy to ignore Trump's persecution because it will never happen to then right? Kemp isn't doing shit as his state goes full south america, and DeSantis' resistance to fed harassment in Mar-a-Lago might as well have been smoke. During 2022 the GOP spent like a fifth of the DNC to win the house, and almost all of it was spent helping non-Trump and "moderate" faggots to counter Trump. They still won, but imediatly pivotes to claiming this means they need to ignore their best candidate since Reagan and go back to being Romneys.
The GOP wins big by beign designated losers. They do not want to win.

If they lose because they fuck over Trump then they will be in a very bad place electorally. A fair portion of the Trump base is just populist and will not follow them blindly. if the republicans screw him over too much they are fairly likely to just check back out like they did in the Bush/Obama years.
that said on the Ukraine thing? the top 3 candidates Trump, Vivek, and Desantis all adopted the stance of focusing on our domestic issues is more important than Ukraine. Vivek was unabashedly the first to raise his hand that he would pardon Trump if he ends up being convicted. the rest tentatively raising their hands after they hear the crowd erupt in cheering him on.
that said yes. the R establishment are awful. the republican base hates them. the best thing they could do is to just not run again and let the party reform.

A bunch of them got purged last election and its likely more of them will be purged soon, those guys are firmly on their way out weather they like it or not.

because the populists have managed to make some gains electorally still as well as the primary process of the republican party being better able to respond to the people who participate in it. remember how the dems screwed over Bernie with the Super delegates? yeah the republicans suck. but they are the party apparatus that can actually be changed. building up a 3rd party to run counter to them? much harder than coopting one.
this is a marathon not a sprint. we will have set backs. this will take time. but we can put in the work and win.

As 1/3rd of the primary votes come from oligarchs rather than citizens.
Bernie sanders won the primary. But then the super-delegates (aka the oligarch's votes) turned it around and made him lose instead.

Trump correctly calls out the covid hysteria as a plan to interfere with elections.
But maybe we wouldn't be in this mess if he didn't support lockdowns in the first place.
Look at Sweden, which he criticized for not shutting down. They're among the lowest excess deaths in Europe, and half the rate of the US. They didn't lock down or mandate masks, and Trump criticized them for it.
Doesn't matter now. We're in the situation we're in.
At least he recognizes it now.

People had a lot more trust before covid we didn't know how bad things were now I think people are only starting to get the depth of how bad it is.
