"Woke" Franchises

The Falklands are Serbian, you cowards.
Videogames, people.

Having "fun" is for uncultured chuds and Gamergate Neo-Nazis.

Nothing "advances" the "art" of games more than yet another one of these dreary pieces of garbage, like The Last of Us 2, where it's supposed to deliver the message that "humanity is bad and awful" and you get railroaded into doing "bad things" like beating a dog's head in with a pipe and other acts of violence that look like they were modeled after Liveleak videos.

Supposedly they actually were modeled after Liveleak videos—employees had to watch a whole bunch of them as "research" for various scenes in the game. Much like the rest of art nowadays, it seems like they have mistaken brutality for reality and assume that realism naturally means making things as brutal and off-putting as possible. A lot of leftists seem to have this mindset that the real world and the whites who run it are unforgivably disgusting and brutal (why else would LGBTs commit suicide en masse?), and that media should also reflect that so we can understand just how awful the "nonprivileged" have it.

TLoU2 is set to become a reviewers' darling, however, because it's their favorite sort of easy game: 90% talking, talking, talking, and talking, and even more talking, 5% parkour, and 5% combat that consists of pushing a button and triggering an enemy's dying animation. Also, there's some hamfisted "message" about the cycle of revenge crammed into every bit of it.

Imagine a game that teaches "retributive violence is wrong" being extolled by bugman psychos who go on Twitter every day and rant about how all non-shitlibs must die. I will believe these nerds want to use video games to learn "dark truths about humanity" when they play one that shows a mirror of their actual behavior.

Someone once pointed out that post-apocalyptic movies and video games are so popular today because everyone, even leftists, unconsciously understands our way of life is unsustainable and deeply inhuman. This game likely cost $100 million to make, and it's in service of a deeply depressing and dreary worldview. No wonder so many nerds are locked in spirals of depression and anomie: this is the spiritual junk food that cram into their minds every day.

No, it's SOCIAL JUSTICE, not "revenge and vengeance", obviously you're still wronging them and what they do is to get you to "apologize" and give "reparations" etc

That said, "where everything is John Wick", really? That's bad? They must really look down on action, danger and Badass-ery....just stick to making visual novels or something than anything action-based

I know, just saying that man, these guys really seem to look down on "mindless action" or "sex and violence" unless they can go try sounding like a philosophical intellectual who talks about how something is "relevant" and "teaches" people
They look down on everything unless it preaches their message and is SJW. They bitched about animal crossing, fucking animal crossing. That alone disproves their "Its all John wick" bullshit.

Ah I love the smell of missile spam in the morning
Welp its sadly inevitably some SJW will go after Metroid. Probably by saying the Space Pirates are somehow representing a minority group or that Samus sexualizes women(which to be fair she does in her Zero Suit but said Suit makes sense as the under layer of her armor and said armor would also would give her quite the workout when wearing it, besides she's part alien). Mind you Nintendo won't care.

Making me think of that "Life is Strange" video game that got much accolades from its depiction of underage sex because of the "message" it sent.

Actually, if I may go off on a tangent; I don't like "strong female characters". Because that term invariably means a masculine, aggressive, self-absorbed jerk who acts as if punching people in the face is the solution to every problem. Put simply; you ever hear of the term "toxic male power fantasy"? "Strong female character" is, in my mind, the essence of a toxic female power fantasy.

Not really? Lara Croft, I think, is a lot more representative of the average "strong female character" than anything you're describing.

Is there a way to differentiate "strong female character" with "female character who just so happens to be strong"? The first sounds like it's trying to sound revolutionary, the latter sounds....okay

You can't really separate Lara Croft from her strength, though.

I mean.... this is basically an accurate description of the first game:

"A young archaeologist with no combat experience slaughters hundreds of armed and armored cultists in a way that would make a Navy Seal Team proud while performing olympic level feats of agility."

And Amazon is taking full advantage of current situation

IDK. That looks to me like its just saying that, yes, black people can be racist too, and you should fight against racism regardless of whether or not it affects you, because some day it might.

Well, not much emphasis on her being a woman in a "man's world" there

And there's nothing wrong with this, in the context of the time. I mean, it was just a cool game with an unrealistically competent protagonist, just like many others. On the other hand, if Lara Croft was a new thing, first being released now, the writers would screw up the game by adding a ton of heavy handed bullshit about how great it is that a female character is doing this, and how woke it is, etc, with wokeness baked into the games core. See for example TLOU, which released an M rated DLC about a young teen's sexuality. Sorta creepy.
