Star Wars Star Wars Discussion Thread - LET THE PAST D-! Oh, wait, nevermind

I would point out that The Bad Batch weren’t "heavily modified”, they were flawed clones that weren’t terminated by the Kaminoans as an experiment and then retained due to exceptional combat performance. All of the backstory says the Kaminoans were utterly ruthless about killing off any and all "substandard” or “aberrant” products, they did not care in the slightest that these were sentient beings.

Given that physiological variations as extreme as the Bad Batch canonically existed, and for that matter at least one actual female variant clone, the idea that there could be a handful of trans clones is not at all far fetched. It doesn’t strike me as something the Kaminoans would care about culling since it doesn’t affect combat performance of the unit.

And even that's only vaguely plausiable because of TCW's stupid retcons regarding the Clones.

That makes no sense given what we see of the bad batch or the MO of the clones. How are they so perfectly specialized if they are a bunch of accidents and potential or not the kaminoans don't tolerate accidents best case scenario they'd have been used for slave labor like 99 and most likely scenario they would have been terminated at the embryonic or fetus stage.

So apparently THIS is a thing:

The reason the Second Death Star looked incomplete was because they had to install fifteen thousand family bathrooms for the Imperial Transphobes.

Okay... so... I haven't seen the Bad Batch or whatever. I always assumed that defective clones (which she is) were axed but maybe the Bad Batch changed that obviously due to combat efficacy. And if she can hack it (which of course she can because her purpose and reason for existence is as a progressive icon/mascot) then sure, no problem with a chick with a dick in service of the Republic.

But it's so fucking cringe, the last part of the graphic there. Her fellow troopers gave her the name "Sister." Okay sure. I get it. TO AFFIRM HER GENDER IDENTITY. Maybe there'd of been more impact in just calling her 'Sister' without fapping (heh) to the idea that it's so powerful and brave and gender identity confirming. And apparently she had the privilege of discussing this with Anakin Skywalker... MUCH WOW! And of course he supported it!

Anyways lets check that Wookieepedia entry...

"I was afraid, before I left Kamino. We don't really know what happens to unusual clones. But my brothers never let me doubt. I wasn't sure if the Jedi would understand."
"The Jedi are all about transcending things. I don't think we can complain if you've transcended gender."
"Transcended gender. We'll work on it, but I like where it's heading."
- Sister and Anakin Skywalker

Ow... that hurt.

She somehow thought the Jedi wouldn't accept or understand her? O RLY? Militant, flawlessly pure clonetrooper military... easily accepting of her and her gender identity. But The Force forbid what the JEDI would think of this DEFECT.

When asked by Skywalker, she explained the origins of her name and the heavy support of her gender identity among her brothers. Intrigued, the Padawan told her about the Jedi belief of rising above things, comparing it to Sister transcending the concepts of gender that she felt existed among clones. As both walked towards Kenobi's location for a rendezvous, she agreed with the sentiment of his statement.

and

Although she was initially nervous about embracing her femininity in front of her commanding officers, Sister gained confidence in her gender identity through the support of her brothers and later from the acceptance of the Jedi she served under.

And then everyone clapped... that was alive anyways. I'm glad she had plenty of time to embrace her defective femininity in front of her commanding officers. :sneaky: 🍆 🍑

Remember Clones! It's not TOLERANCE. It's ACCEPTANCE NOW!

It can't just be, Oh this is a defective clone. We call her Sister because of it. She's an integral part of the squad.

It's.... She was afraid of what would happen to her but her brothers ACCEPTED her Gender Identity. Then she feared not being accepted to strange new places! And that the Jedi would spurn her because of her gender identity! It was so harmful. But after the battle she survived, she met ANAKIN SKYWALKER who accepted her as she was for TRANSCENDING GENDER IDENTITY and saw it as a way of RISING ABOVE and EMBRACING HER FEMININITY. And everyone clapped!

She even had special clonetrooper armor with a Trans Affirming coloration! ❤

EDIT:

I'm waiting for a Rebel Starship to be dubbed the Ukraina and adorned in blue and yellow.

The Bad Batch have the freaking X Gene. I mean we see Hunter fall off a mountain and not die. We see Wrecker perform feats of strength that approach what Ben Grim the Thing can match. We see Tech do his best Forge impression, Crosshair being a cross between Hawkeye and Bullseye and Omega being a master strategist. The aren't just clones they are freaking Superheroes. Echo of coarse is just a Borg (Resistance if Futile bitches lol)

Edit: It is pretty much confirmed both Hunter and Wrecker have some version of a Healing Factor.

The armor being s0ecial is what hugs me.
YOU WEAR THE COLOR OF YOUR FUCKING UNIT NOT WHAT EVER THE FUCK YOU WANT!
Like...come the fuck on.
She also would not have been apart of a standard unit and put in a unit back on Kamino..
Like come the fuck on
In real life, the last thing a soldier wants to do is stand out as different and become sniper bait. But in a visual medium like shows and games, viewers want to be able to discern who's who immediately so they put effort into making everybody different.

Clone Wars actually did pretty well, with the clones generally only having slightly different kit and colored stripes for the officers, but over time it's moved further away from that and more towards something like Overwatch where every character is as distinct as possible.

I mean, even those that had special designs in TCW had colors that match the unit they were in

honestly having Gender identity politics in a high fantasy/High-Tec world is silly as the main crux of the issue in regards to the actual trans movement is that it's based on lies that we are technologically capable of changing the sex's we were born with when in reality it's all a big con. We don't even have a full understanding of the human genetic makeup let alone how to change it on a whim, it's all a big con that either creates mental disorders and/or /escalates already existing ones. Universes like Star Wars and D&D where magic and or gene alteration/splicing isn't unheard of (if not a little hard to access) this sort of thing is a non-issue so again I'm left with the same question I was before. What are real-world politics and political sub-cultures doing in a universe where they make no sense in context?

before the jedi took over Kamino, clones listed as Aberrations were generally either "corrected" or "terminated". clone force 99 (aka "the bad batch") were deliberately created as an experiment to see how well Aberrations could work in the GAR.
so that would make "sister'' an Aberration, and likely one that was created "For Science!"

Two points, that’s the canon explanation for the Bad Batch regardless of how much sense it makes to get a cinematic ideal "misfit hero" squad out of it that way, and some of it can at least be hand waved as lottery wins out of the sheer volume of product the Kaminoans were making for the Republic outside of Traviss minimalism.

Ah fair.

Also, I will point out that it was a *standard thing* that the clones were pretty quiet about even relatively minor individual quirks, typically sharing them only within their own unit and with the Jedi commanders who not only treated them as actual people but actively befriended them, who were a semi majority of the Jedi *seen* in published stories but are at least heavily implied by canon to have been a relative minority.

Most people who worked with the clones only knew their rank and serials, not their names. Actually sharing their unofficial personal names with non-brothers is portrayed as a fairly big deal.

Being made for children is not an excuse for being bad. This is literally the same excuse used by the woke crowd to defend everything they've ever done to any of these franchises. Avatar: The Last Airbender was made for children and had some very good writing.
I mean yes but doesn't mean take what is in the children's book as undeniable canon.

Well it’s Disney canon so calling it that is a stretch.
Very true. It's fanfiction with pretensions.

But of course, within the confines of Disney's continuity, their whole premise was "no more tiered canon, everything is equally true". Which... didn't work out for them. Within just a few years, they managed to create a mess of contradictions, without any system of determining that is "true". So while it is utterly ridiculous, by their own standards, the most ludicrously bad idea from the silliest and most idiotic entry to their 'canon' is just as true as all the rest of it.

Their whole 'canon' is just as messy, contradictory and just plain bad as their sequel trilogy. It's almost like it's all being run by the same gaggle of blithering morons...
