Texas Border Invasion Standoff

Under what authority is Biden banning LNG exports?

Is he claiming it's a strategic resource?
He's 'pausing approvals of new export permits' to non-FTA members, and with a carve out for 'emergencies', as well as justifying it with climate rhetoric (not actually all lies this time, increasing methane isn't great, but bad way to handle it) and saying it's to also keep LNG prices low for industry at home.

This means the actual profit margin for LNG overall is going to crater, and a lot of LNG workers will be out of work for a while, and the wording allows all sorts of wiggle room in the sort of approvals needed to 'unpause' approvals for those export shipments.

Texas has a lot of LNG and export of it is easy there do to exist infrastructure.

TO COMBAT CLIMATE CHANGE! THE EXISTENTIAL THREAT OF OUR TIME!

A Republican victory, conversely, would mean the opposite. A major return to states' rights (probably via Constitutional amendment), removal of key Democrat functionaries for their attempted "coup", most or all gun laws immediately declared unconstitutional, probably a federal abortion ban, and mass terrorism charges against left-wing groups. Plus, borders become functionally closed, and will be heavily patrolled with soldiers with standing kill orders.
NGL, a Republican victory as you've outlined here is probably what America, and possible the West, needs to survive.

Sounds like someone is worried.
Sigh. I wish.

I agree. Well, if not "to survive" then at least "to survive without much worse horrors later". Hence my preceding post. A thousand times better that shit goes down now, rather than later. We're all living in a sealed can that's been thrown into the fire. If it's plucked out and opened now, some hands will get badly burnt for sure. But the alternative is waiting for the thing to explode...

Good breakdown of it; it's a bit different that how it sounds, and kinda worse.

They are pausing permits for new LNG terminals as part of this, not as much curtailing existing exports directly, but pausing DOE approval of new projects.

Most of the new LNG terminals are in Texas.

Unclear wording by the Biden admin just making shit more confusing, but this mostly fucks Texas and not many others, that's why Abbott is pissed.

On the subject of violence breaking out over this…I think it’s about more likely then some people are giving credit, though I also don’t think it’s a certain thing either.

As for why, I’d remain you that the Left in the West have gotten very very used to getting their way. In fact the idea that they’re on the ‘inevitable right side of history’ is pretty central in their mythology. On the more cynical side, I’d point out that the establishment is hilariously out of touch and arrogant as well.

Is this even within his authority to do? Can congress challenge him on it?
Probably. Presidential power has been massively expanded well beyond what it should be. They can do most things. Just issuing tarriffs by fiat, for example, is just one.

Also, the 24 hour deadline is nearly up. When exactly was that issued?

I’m hearing that the deadline is for 11pm today, but that’s just hearsay. I haven’t been able to find any official statements as to exactly when the deadline runs out.

So have we officially moved up to a 3 on the “It’s Happening” scale yet with Biden’s LNG nonsense, or should I hold off on moving that up till later tonight?

Anyone want to take bets on whether or not he pussies out or actually runs headfirst into a very heated conflict with half the union during an election year?

Going by the decision making track record of the Pudding Head in Chief, I’m betting on the latter.
