Roleplay 1000 Wands of World Wrecking Wonder IC

Even a humble man's education is sufficient to divine one or two important differences between six and ten, and so James immediately turns on a heel and bolts, a chivalrous yanking of the nearby woman's arm not withstanding.
"Run!"
He shouts, still a man of few words.
"Eep!"
A high pitched yet brief squeal is all Hastria can manage as she is unceremoniously dragged along, struggling to keep pace with James' mad dash.

Boris's no stranger to a brutal life which the swamp was every day and his own inebriation, just grunted at the rabbits shriek as he picked out out the bandit with a sword. Boris level his wand at that one and fired all of it's projectiles at him discharging the wands power in a single go, then tapping Bierstout on the shoulder.

"Let them feel the sting of the sticks made by the man of the pointy hat and terror then let them chase. Let the bringers of violence come to us and feel our wrath." He said outlining the typical skirmishing among the Lizardfolk tribes in dwarven to his companion before retreated as far as he could before stopping for his hand chance to attack.

Bierstout almost curses their rotten luck. But he also remembers that the plans of adventurers never went off without a hitch. There was always some cosmic force that threw a wrench into the works, making the story twist in some unexpected direction. How boring those tales would have been otherwise! It was the struggle of the heroes that made the legends so compelling and inspiring.

And so he grins instead. He'd been in bigger fights than this — drunken brawls in the great hall, after some obnoxious youngster voiced an insult that couldn't be taken back, or when drunkenness loosened the lids on old, long-simmering grudges, and what started with a single punch to the jaw eventually became a chaotic fracas with stools splintered over skulls and plates shattered below stomping feet. Clubs and blades make it a little bit more dangerous — well, a lot more dangerous — but he has Gambledore's wands in his hands and comrades at his side.

. . . some of whom have already decided to cut and run.

But the lizardman, in a display of bravery that Bierstout hadn't expected, jumps into action. Heartened by the sight of a fellow warrior-spirit, the young dwarf gathers up all his moxie and roars back at the bandits.

"Come and get some, ya bastards! Baruk Khazâd!"

He lets loose with first the wand in his right hand, and then his left, aiming first for the sword-wielding leader (if he's still standing after Boris's barrage) and then the largest-looking bandits among the bunch. Then he starts slowly backing up, following the lizard while maintaining magic-missile fire on the outlaws — assuming, that is, that the wands haven't done anything too unexpected or dangerous.

Varrys grumbled at the snap of the twig and the bandits being alerted. He pulled out a wand and just cast it at the nearest bandits coming at them.

Theodoric sighs, this was just great, and now they were down two. "Well" he thought, "I guess this is a good a chance as any." He then drew a wand and then cast it on the closest bandit.

Varrys quickly reacts to the parties blown cover and fires off his spell. Three magic darts sink home into a nearby bandit and he falls backwards, instantly slain by the magic. Hastria feels a shiver run down her spine, but it quickly passes and nothing else noticeable occurs. James then proceeds to take her hand, and both of you make it sixty feet back towards the carts.

Boris takes his wand and unleashes a complete whirlwind of missiles, nine in all. The staggering assault lands home, peppering his body. The bandit leader roars in a bloodthirsty rage, and the once cocksure criminal commander is now an animalistic fury. The bandits appear taken aback by this, perhaps because the man they follow has never appeared like this, and perhaps because he appears to be screaming at his compatriots, rather than the party.

The Captain screams at one particular bandit, "How dare we wear these wretched things! I am going to slaughter you quickly so I can off myself!" The captain then proceeds to stab himself in the gut with his dagger, and then advance upon and slash at a fellow bandit with his longsword, and miss completely.

The bandit who was attacked calls out, "Captain's gone mad! Help me out boys, we gotta stop him." Three others help and they begin to fight with the captain, one dagger flashing out and missing completely, and the captain dodges two other clubs while the final finds purchase. The other four bandits rush towards the party, and then hide behind trees.

just before the bandits make their dash towards you, Bierstout hits the captain, who remains standing and produces no other notable effect, and another one of the bandits, who staggers but makes it to cover. The first produces no discernible effect, but the latter leaves a tingle in Bierstouts fingers that dissipates shortly afterward.

Theo, the last to fire, takes shot at the bandit that the captain attacked initially. He is felled instantly, and the captain screams, his rage now directed only at himself, with no discernible side effects.

Roaring a clan battle cry Boris dropped the spent wand he'd held and draws a fresh wands regretting having spent it all so quickly, but brimming with dark glee as the man understood the misery of life. That was a man in need of bogshine and bogwine he'd never get to enjoy.

With the fresh wand he backed away with it in hand ready to fire at any bandits who showed themselves, just a normal burst of three and if possible hitting different bandits to inflict them with the wands effects.

Seeing the bandits thrown into chaos, James stops and slings a bullet at the first bandit that comes within range (120 feet). I believe I get +2 for proficiency but get a disadvantage for long range.

Hastria, having stopped alongside James, uses one of her wands to attack whichever bandit James slings a rock at.

With the bandits thrown into completely disarray by the barrage of magic missiles, Bierstout immediately stops backing up. He hadn't expected the wands to be that effective — forget skirmishing and kiting, they already have the enemy on the defensive! But now he also finally understands just what Gambledore meant when the great wizard had talked about 'testing' — he's pretty sure that magic missile isn't supposed to drive the target into a berserk rage! Nor does he like the temporary tingling sensation in his left hand.

Well, the first wand seems safe enough to use. He tucks the second wand into his belt, away from the others, and draws a fresh wand from the bunch. Then he goes for the bandits taking cover behind the foliage, circling around to hit them from the sides with another barrage of magic missiles.

"Well, this ended better than one would expect" Theodoric thought "And that is what Gambledore meant by testing effects. Well, I guess I had an idea, but not quite something like this. Well better be careful in the future." Further, he couldn't wait to study thee effects, he did have some sympathy for that bandit, not much, since being driven to madness like this was not a fate he would wish on his worst enemy. Though, he would have to follow up on it, see what the wand had warped his mind to detest so much. Deciding that he should test the first again to confirm, he used the wand once more on a bandit. He could always test another one in the future.

Varrys fires at the bandits still in sight, and fells another fighting with the bandit leader. He crumples into a heap, unmoving. No noticeable effect occurs.

The bandits then break cover, and make for another dash towards the party but regret it near instantaneously, at least, those still capable of that.

James slings a bullet as soon as a bandit comes out from around a tree to move up to the next cover, misses, and is suddenly overcome by enforced feelings of pacifism. Your hands feels incapable of being used to harm another living creature.

Hastria fires off a burst from the wand, striking the bandit James missed. He falls dead, and as soon as his body falls with a thump he appears as though he was killed months ago, with grayish green skin and patches of flesh missing entirely.

Boris sprays darts from his own wand, and the sky immediately blows up into a dazzling light show the likes of which you have never seen before in your life. They whirl and twirl, moving faster than any cloud, an array of utter beauty, and kills the bandit instantly. He too appears as though he died quite some time ago.

Bierstout, unable to get an angle, hits the last two bandits with separate missiles as soon as they brake cover. Each suddenly, and violently vomits forth liter after liter of thick, gooey, grey liquid, that pools around his legs. One, the bandit previously wounded, dies and begins to rot, while the other, pained, confused, and constricted, throws down his dagger and surrenders. "I give up! I swear, I didn't mean to kill you all, just ruff you up and take your coin. Take pity on me you grand and powerful wizards, please!" His hands shot up in the air, eyes screwed shut in terror, and goo dripping from his lips and slurring his words.

The bandit leader moves to stab himself once more, ready to perform a self coup de grace, and muttering something to himself. The other two bandits, seeing their leader intent on suicide, their friends dead, and magic the likes of which they have never seen and the world changing around them, flee in sheer and utter terror. The bandit leader now stands alone, dramatically raising his arms to the sky and ready to stab himself. Theo shoots the bandit and he appears clearly near death, but continues on, ready to end himself. As soon as the blade touches his own body however, the man disappears entirely from sight.

The battle is over, a work of incredible art now hangs in the sky over a gruesome scene of rotting corpses, strange glue, and eight rotting corpses. What do you do now?

Varrys goes over to the bandits’ site and takes anything of use to haul back to the cart. Keeping an eye out for any written objects.

After doing so he addresses everybody. “Well then let’s catalogue the first of these wands then, shall we?”

I testingly attempt to think about beating my companions with a tree branch every couple of seconds to see if and when the curse wears off.

You notice that, in the time it takes to get to the site, the rotten bodies have finished rotting and are now complete skeletons. Of useful items that can be seen at a glance, 6 sets of leather armor filled with skeletons, 4 clubs and 3 daggers are readily apparent. The camp itself is fairly sparse, little more than a campfire with some meat around, likely sourced from the rabbits in the area.

Hastria drops to her knees, the grand displays of magic and the putrid form of the man she killed rendering her quite shellshocked. She stares ahead blankly, wobbling slightly.

"I...wha-...oh..."
The man in front of you quickly turns from rotting to a complete skeleton, in a period of 12 seconds. Anything that could decompose has.

I testingly attempt to think about beating my companions with a tree branch every couple of seconds to see if and when the curse wears off.
As you think about hitting them, you know you could snap a branch, pose for a strike, but try as you might you could never bring it down to harm them.

Theodoric was absolutely horrified by the deaths of some of those bandits. After they are died, he made sure to investigate the bodies the best he could, trying to see if his medicial or magical knowledge could tell him anything (medicine and arcana rolls). He wasn't even sure what the effect of the wand was, he thought it might be killing effect, but isn't sure so he also tries to see if it matches to anything he knows (arcana).

He pockets the daggers, and plucks the armor off of a bandit’s skeleton.

"Curious thing these bandits milling about Barleyville. And a curious summoning of the northern lights as well."

Varrys adjusted his glasses.

"Well do we set up here I suppose?"
