tbh this just exemplifies that the regime is in decay

they could easily outsource censoring to entirely the private sector and not have to worry about it. The hall monitors on twitter are going to be trying to censor basically the exact same things as the hall monitors in government want censored anyway, the system doesn't need any direct involvement. but they did anyway, because they're run by incompetents. The system's ideology degrades it's own human capital until they're below the level where they can maintain it.

Just imagine growing up with an interest in politics and a desire to help people and solve problems (and agrandize power for yourself and your associates, of course), and after a lot of effort and intense competition you land an internship, or maybe even a job, in the Biden administration. Finally, you've made it.

And then they sit you down in front of a computer and tell you start trolling through Facebook posts looking for pepe memes to report.

Ah yes, everything is the fault of those darn bigoted white people and not toxic inner-city culture.

One of the big arguments of the tech monopolies is that they are private businesses and that the first amendment only applies to the government. But if Facebook and the rest are acting on behalf of the government then that means that they are no longer private businesses, they are state actors.

Of course the problem now is to find a judge with the guts to point this out.

It might not be as hard as you think; one of the things Trump and McConnell managed to get done together was filling a huge amount of judicial vacancies.

People were laughing at Trump's lawsuit against the tech companies, but with Psaki shooting her mouth off like this, it's a boost to his case, because government can't use the excuse of "it's a private company" to censor people it doesn't like. Or collude with said companies even when they don't like the speaker or the message.

While not a legal slam dunk... It is going to make things a lot harder for facebook to defend...
