I don't even blame her. I haven't been following her activities, but as I recall she got handed the Latin American relations/immigration shitshow. Now a bigger shitshow appears and they want her to take that on as well? That looks less like "I give you the tough jobs 'cause I trust/respect you" and more like "Be my meat shield for bad PR". And maybe being a meat shield is supposed to be a VP's job, I dunno, but even in that case I'd want more advance notice.

Back in the day you can be rewarded for being an invader taking land and putting a crown on your head and say you're in charge.

Milley is the poster boy for generations of generals that are better at sucking off congress critters and defense contractors than doing anything related to their actual job. General Staff members need to be good politicians, but when there are no peer threats requiring meritorious performance the upper echelons ossify into a political club. We always knew this was an issue, but Milley broke the cardinal rule and starting being publicly honest about it.
