So, Biden screwed up again, going off script and essentially calling for regime change in Russia, only for the white house to again frantically walk that back once he was off mic. Through to Biden's credit, he at least managed to say "Putin can't be allowed to stay in power", and didn't double botch it by saying we had to go remove Gorbachev or Stalin.

The fact that Biden/Biden's handlers screwed up by picking Kamala as VP is looking like a gift to the GOP next election, if Biden hadn't somehow picked the only democratic with worse polling then him, he would have been 25th amendmented already, instead they're stuck with a lose/lose set of candidates heading into 2024.

The original quote was from MacArthur after the Korean war. Shows how much you know about history.

Unless I'm missing something, that article doesn't actually establish that MacArthur said that. I'm aware he's often credited with saying it, along every other military leader from the past 200 years, but I've never seen it clearly attributed to him. So the most likely source for the linecis the movie.

A hundred bucks won't be enough to cover half the fuel costs per month of the average working class family

This is a pittance and it's gonna insult a lot of people.

The theory is that a hundred bucks is enough to cover the increased cost of fuel over what people were already paying, not that it will cover all of their gas for the month on its own.

In which case the issues seems to be the other way round. I don't drive a lot and can usually get by filling up once a month, and rising fuel costs added about $20 to that cost. If I had two cars and they both needed two tanks of gas a month, which strikes me as a very high estimate, we're still only talking about $80 a month.

Our "fuel hog" is an old CR-V that gets about 200mi out of about 12.5gal (13.3gal tank).

16mpg, which is terrible for something that small. It's the grocery getter and the workhorse. It visits a gas station about once a week. Increased fuel cost? Roughly $25/mo, tops.

EDIT: Do you drive something which requires Premium?

Either way the GOP is almost certainly going to win back control of the US House of Representatives & United States Senate including several Governorships as well as down-ballot statewide offices in November.

On 2024: GOP will likely win back the Presidency with either Trump or DeSantis.

Biden used cheat sheet while doubling down on unscripted message to oust Putin

biden-cheatsheet-005.jpg

I've given the odd presentation in the past, I don't ever recall needing a note card to explain my own words from a day ago.

Maybe they're trying to get out the "it's the senile old guy or the cackling witch" dilemma by openly telegraphing that Biden is just a puppet, so in 24 they can have some guy come out and go "Hey, I'm the guy that's actually been running the country, and I want to do that openly now".

Its amazing that there are still a handful of people who support this senile old puppet.

There are legitimately some people who will believe the party line no matter how absurd it is. They have too much pride on the line, and would have to eat too much crow, if they admitted they'd been deceived.

Yes, that would be the "no, the emperor totally has clothes" bunch I referred to. "People will reject the obvious for fear of admitting they're a sucker" is literally the point of the story.
