Thomas Jefferson statue removed from the New York City Hall after being there for 187 years because Jefferson owned slaves. The half ton statue had been there since 1833. The original plan was to remove the statue without press coverage or any sort of public notice but the New York Post annoyingly found out about the plan so it had to have a symbolic discussion briefly before Democrats decided to remove it over opposition.
