Apparently Mr & Mrs Smith will be a television series on Amazon Prime.

Doesn't even seem to keep the same plot as the movie its named after. They're like a couple that already know they're spies or assassins or whatever and apparently go on missions for the same group and aren't in love at first.

Impressive cast I guess.

Waste of a name from a known franchise though.

I do like that the villain seems to be the federal government. The more contempt for them the better. The bad thing is that a journalist is the good guy.

Also : director is Alex Garland.

You know the director of Men (a box office bomb with 11 million dollars gained and also a self-man-hating movie from the looks of it), Ex Machina (where the genius dev of the robot is compared to a serial rapist) and the female-centric Annihilation.

There is also Wagner Moura, a Brazilian leftist compatriot of mine. The one who also directed a movie about a far left bank robber terrorist.

I'mma gonna have to research this fantasy.
I mean...California & Texas rebel together?
Either that or they are in the same faction. And I think it is West Texas.

HELL! That's even less likely! Out here in West Texas, we really hate the Commiefornia for screwing up America.
@The Whispering Monk I thought it was East Texas that was the most conservative (then again I visited Texas in 2008/2009). I do see it unlikely even though it is near future fiction.
Also, check the Biafra/Nigerian Civil War for unlikely alliances...It had the US, UK and USSR backing the same regime and the other side had France, Israel, Apartheid South Africa and I think China.
So more unlikely stuff already happened in history...

It's not necessarily that West Texas is more conservative than East Texas, it's simply that there aren't really any large urban centers that pull things blue. Almost all of that is located in central and East Texas.

Yup, history is really freaky.

Real life can be hilarious. 10/10 movie I will pirate and never pay for as a meme. I could have sworn this was a comedy skit...

Key and Peele right. jokes becoming real in 2023.

AS @Abhorsen succintly put it :

In a way this could backfire hilariously if they have their leftist bent. Because MOURA IS LEFTIST.

What a marvelous view seeing someone who appreciate that as artist besides me.

Jordan Peele explicitly told everyone he is making movies where Caucasians are not his focus, the only one who pulled something similar was Tim Burton, who barely bent to the woke idea of diversity for the his Netflix show of the Adams (then again they are somewhat of a goth half latino/Hispanic family in a way).

Probably it will flop because so many people are convinced he is the next Hitchcock.
