@The Whispering Monk glad you enjoyed my take on it.

Now...a favor...

Can you translate what @ATP has said because I didn't understand anything :p
Sorry for being unclear.
Basically:
I believe he's saying that Hollywood believes they are the only real source of entertainment and there is nothing else out there. So we have to watch what they produce and smile and thank them for whatever they want to shove in our faces.

;)

This.

Red Letter Media did an amusing video discussing something they coined as "WatchBait" which is cheap poor quality often horror movies that have certain titles which read like Clickbait.

They use combinations of public domain words such as "Amityville" and "Exorcism" or "Shark" "Ouija" and "Titanic" etc.

These movies tend to be even worse then say... Asylum level films or your classic idea of a SciFi movie of the week or B-Movie schlock. Like amateurishly student film bad... But using clickbaity words, intriguing derivative covers/movie posters etc they can fill out the libraries of various streaming services and hopefully get those clicks.

It's a pretty funny and interesting commentary video IMHO.

As long as they are not as the garbage that comes out of Netflix and Disney and so forth... I rather watch "watchbait" than the movies of those companies.

In the meantime...It's a remake (by French crew and cast) of the Japanese movie. Not hopeful but at least it doesn't look insulting to fans like certain companies do.

Ok here is a likely not very good Latino Horror movie I am going to watch :

It's a shame that the Iberoamerican horror scene is rather anemic as the Italian one (THOUGH the Italian one can count on the 1950s to 1980s/1990s FOR MOVIES), both in literature and other media.

Oh boy Oh boy!

After seeing Mattel's success with Barbie, Hasbro is going to foolishly explore how to make film IP with such iconic toy brands like PlayDoh, Nerf, and something called Transformers.

pretty sure that some of those were already in the works. play-doh movie huh. I'm imagining something like Gumby. as for NERF? just get a bunch of kids hand them about 3000 dollars in nerf guns give them a fun arena to play in. alternately make an animated show where they take nerf wars very seriously.

Or maybe it'll be like the new Gran Turismo movie?

They'll recruit a bunch of tween aged NERF Gun Players to train to see which one can become a Tier One Special Forces operator and serve on the frontlines in high risk direct action missions?

I saw Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning.... PART ONE!!! in theaters today. Since it has already been out for like a month we were able to get the theater pretty much to ourselves. I used to be pretty hot and cold on Mission Impossible films and missed out on the middle ones and wasn't too hot on Tom Cruise much either. But after hearing about how good Fallout was, I went back and saw all of them from three onward and they were pretty decent overall and just got better and better I suppose.

These movies are still kinda feeling like Tom Cruise movies as opposed to a franchise type of film but they're so well made and entertaining and engrossing and Dead Reckoning I guess just improved on that formula that's worked out so well for them. Even though I'm basically seeing a star vehicle, it's a film I'm still thoroughly entertained by and it delivered on the action and manageable humor and tech and drama and character bits and our favorite dwarf being fawned over and tenderly caring for all manners of strong sexy spy babes and the like.

The real neat concept is as a spy thriller, it's use of an artificial intelligence as the primary plot point is something that could so easily be cringe or poorly done as well as something I've seen countless times before... but it's done far better here. There's no cringey hacking scenes or poorly set up or otherwise formulaic artificial nemesis or overreaching scifi nonsense. The artificial intelligence plot is well done and neat and really enhances the story but the core of the film using that for making a simply great and well told and crafted spy thriller movie.

Lots of spy thrillers dealing with artificial intelligence and hacking... Eagle Eye, Fast and the Furious 7, Black Hat, Live Free and Die Hard etc but this one did it pretty well. Keep in mind its not an in depth exploration of hacking or artificial intelligence like some Isaac Asimov novel or Mr. Robot, but its use as a focal plot point was well done.

So yeah, overall it was a good solid spy thriller. Certainly better than the latest and last Daniel Craig offering for the Bond franchise.

I noticed Gran Turismo seems to be the first completely decent feature movie Neil Blomkamp has done SINCE 2013.

AND IT IS NOT EVEN SCIENCE FICTION! IT'S A RACING MOVIE BASED ON A SONY IP! AND IT'S WELL RATED AND REVIEWED ?!?!?!?

I haven't watched Demonic because from a mile away you could understand it was garbage...
