The West Bank is ruled by a different group entirely.
They will need to occupy the Gaza Strip, I think, just to stop the Hamas cult from using it as a missile-launching ground. But you come across as arguing for genocide of all the Palestinian Arabs, whether or not that's your intent.

Aye. They don't realize their rhetoric amps up Hamas and gives them ideological ammunition to propel their extremism. They're arming and equipping Hamas just as much as anyone.
Hamas started out as amped up as it was ever going to be, read their official statements, even founding documents. At some point enemies hate you so decisively and unabashedly that there is nothing more you can do to make them more extreme even if you tried.
On the other side of a line, Assad did far worse to own compatriots (also Arabs) over last decade, where's his super extreme opposition? Oh, wait, the most extreme of it is simply dead. Stories of "but every dead jihadi will inspire 10 more" are just a statement of ideological belief, not some iron law of war sociology.

I think the Soviets only started helping the Arabs a bit later - once it became plain to them that the Israelis, despite lots of them being from Eastern Europe, were not actually supporters of Communism.

No that was not the intent. Even if I leaned that way it would be more of “scatter to the winds” than wholesale obliterated. Collateral civilian casualties are one thing, but the methodical slaughter of civilians is another.
The West Bank has not been the most sensible of neighbours in the past mind you, but they have their heads screwed on far better than Hamas (the terrorist group they allowed to take hold of Gaza and run it as their own fiefdom. That was a big oof)…
