First time we were engaged was a baited ambush situation. We had just left our FOB in Talafar when insurgents shot a kid and left him bleeding in the road. We turned a corner and saw it and stopped. Without even thinking I hopped out of the vehicle, grab my aidbag an go to the kid, who may have been about 7 years old. My platoon Sergeant grabbed me and yanked me back, hard.

No sooner had he done that, that a round bounces off the hood of our Humvee right where my head would have been. The insurgents then popped up off the nearby rooftop and from nearby houses and alley ways and opened up on us. My platoon engaged at roughly 100 to 150 feet distance and in the span of a minute of balls to the wall firing anywhere from a thousand to fifteen hundred rounds were exchanged between the two sides...

...and we hit nothing....and as it turned out, not one of us got hit either. Let me put that into perspective. In a Firefight that lasted about a minute, where between a thousand to 1500 rounds were exchanged as everyone mag dumped on each other, not a single combatant hit a target on the other side.

But again, that was our first taste of combat in theater and we'd get noticeably better rounds on target. But that first time...


Sadly the kid didn't make it. By the time the enemy bailed and the fight over he had bled out and couldn't be saved.

This also gets a lot of attention because of all of the forwarning. Everything that makes it a bad warfare move make it a great marketing move, because that's what it is. More, it puts pressure on any government in the flight path that has a population that's pro-Palestinian (all of them), about why are they shooting stuff down/letting Israel thru to shoot stuff down?

The one issue is that this strategy has been done vs the US, and I'm curious if Israel will respond similarly. Either way, to find out, you need to fuck around.

Almost two hundred drones, over a hundred medium range Ballistic missiles (MRBM's) and 25-36 cruise Missiles were launched by Iran, with more rocket and missile attacks coming from Iranian affiliates in Iraq, Lebanon and reportedly even Yemen. All were intercepted or failed to strike Isreali territory with the exception of seven ballistic missiles striking in the Negev Desert in Southern Israel, impacting around the area of an IDF AirBase there where F-35I's are based.

Seventy or so drones were reportedly intercepted by US Air Force F-15EX fighters.



Also night time footage of "exo atmospheric" interceptions that reportedly took place of Iranian Ballistic Missiles likely either by US Navy SM-3 or Israeli Arrow IV Air Defense Missiles.





Israel also received help with interceptions and intelligence from sources in Iraq, Jordan, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia among others. The British along with the Americans also launched jets to intercept the Iranian attackers.

Despite the Israeli cabinet supposedly supporting a military counterstrike, the Biden Administration urged Netanyahu and Israel to not respond militarily. It's still possible they will respond in some other way, such as with a cyberattack or other non-military manner.
