Tucker Carlson Leaving Fox News

Apparently his last show was April 21st, so last Friday. A statement was just released by Fox News about it.

Dan Bongino is also not renewing his contract.
So, that's Fox down the drain. He was basically single-handedly keeping them afloat, as I understand it.

It's amazing to me how much Fox seems to WANT to become part of the MSM...

Carlson was also very hostile to Trump, so this might mean that they're deciding to throw their horse behind him at the cost of all their younger viewers.

Which bothers me because it implies something about the Mar a Lago crew and their relationship with the status quo.

Edit- and this comes on the heels of GOP making a move against Greene and Boebert and other anti establish types. Something bad is happening behind the scenes.

Of course they do.

Stop and think about it for a moment, not from the perspective of the culture war, politics, or even the ratings, think about it from the position of a rank and file employee of Fox News.

What is the career options for the cameraman, light rigger, and all the other backstage support staff? For the various script writers, editors, and fact checkers? For the basic reporter? Maybe some local stations might be willing to pick them up, but other major networks? Other major institutions? Working for Fox News might as well be a scarlet letter, and is considered by the rest of the industry not just as making someone suspect, but as outright disqualifying.

Thus there's a lot of pressure internally for Fox to be more "mainstream" and less "partisan", to be more like the other networks. After all, it's in their economic best interest to not be anathema...

Someone I know who only listens to the MSM was saying that a faction of the GOP was going to hold a meeting in order to establish their new campaign platform, which would be essentially anti-populist.

Almost all of the Fox Shows were doing better then their competition

That doesn't say much, given how badly the MSM is tanking.

Given how they basically threw the last elections in order to spite the spielfaderbers, they have been making moves for some time now, this will be only more overt, compared to previous ones.

1, they'll probably fail and trigger a massive purge of the GOP. Which is a very good thing.

2, if they somehow succeed, we can go back to 40 years of losing and managed decline and compromising with monsters.

Make no mistake, the future is right wing populism, the questions conservatives need to ask themselves is if they want to be on the receiving end of the fury and righteous indignation of the New Right or if they wanna be on its side. Because no one will ever forget these betrayals, punching to your right as a conservative is disgraceful.

Or if they wanna be part of the solution.

I'm guessing Tucker Carlson will fade away from the mainstream since his words will no longer be distributed to millions and millions of people via one of the biggest news networks. Sure, he might be able to join a smaller news outlet or setup his own show or podcast, but he isn't going to reach anywhere near as many people.
A lot of online media producers have a higher weekly view count than CNN.

I think you're wrong. He'll probably gain a larger audience.

Ah suddenly a lot makes sense.

I knew that fox was anti Trump. The kids that took over are really really establishment. They hated whenever anyone talked about the election fraud or any serious anti establishment stuff and Tucker was one of the main ones doing it. They shut down a lot of reports that would make the establishment look bad. Tucker was allegedly going to release more Jan 6th footage but after that first bit they squashed that.

So they settled the dominion suit instead of fighting to try and quash any talk of the 2020 election and are using it as a excuse to get rid of their most popular guy that they hated. Because they couldn't just fire him for no reason.

I wonder how long they've been planning this? Certainly before dominion launched their lawsuit. They didn't really have a case so they must have known ahead of time fox wouldn't even fight it.

It cost them a lot of money but apparently they think firing their biggest draw was worth it.

What idiots. This has a good chance of tanking their network.

All he has to do is set up a rumble account and he'll get the same view count.

Carlson even said it multiple times on recent podcasts he did that he viewed alt media as the future of media and that people from his world needed go adapt or go the way of the dinosaurs.

Huge win for alt media today

The network will not tank.

As long as msnbc and CNN can stay afloat, so can fox.

But an independent Tucker would be a lot better than a Fox News Tucker.

I think this is over all a good thing. Tucker isn't just a nobody trying to start a podcast. He has a large audience and a network of contacts. If (when) he starts an independent show, it'll be an immediate success.

This is a huge win for independent media. Yuuuuge.
