He's the President of a nation that's been invaded. He has a moral obligation to try to get every bit of support for his people that he can. Every single combat platform, case of shells, etc, might save one or more of his soldiers' or civilians' lives.
As to the second part of this, can you actually link to something on it? Because I've literally never seen him say something that optimistic. Granted, I don't go looking for his speeches much, so I'm open to the possibility I've just completely missed it.

Recently we had protests in Poland of our logistics companies that were subject to unfair competition from Ukraine - they blocked the PL-UA border, Ukrainians whined about "vital supplies being held". Total lie, military and humanitarian suppliers were not blocked. But guess what was blocked? Lorries loaded with luxury cars, and even one with a bloody yacht.
For a country fighting for it's national survival, their elites sure have their priorities straight...

In Polish military blogosphere a lot of analysts speak about sub-Article 5 conduct. So sabotage, assasinations, jamming of signals, "only a stray missile that went of course and we're very sorry for that, but you really shouldn't build that NPP by the way...", ect. Things that are hostile conduct / aggression, but below the war threshold.

It's only a nuclear war if NATO wants one. Treaties are ultimately just pieces of paper or else Azerbaijan would be glowing by now.
Not starting a war or abandoning treaty commitments over the Baltics or Poland or just dissolving NATO etc is a pretty strong viewpoint of folks like Tucker Carlson guests such as Douglas MacGregor and fellow travelers like Aaron Mate, Jackson Hinkle, and Scott Ritter etc.
