United States US presidential election 2024

Trump with Vivek as running mate this time around would be great. Then Vivek can be Trump's anti-assassination insurance for oe term, and then he can run with Trump's endorsement in '28, since Trump is term-limited anyway.

Neither Trump nor Vivek is anything close to a perfect candidate, but that's about the best scenario that seems viable right now. As in: it's the one the establishment would like least, so it's the one regular people ought to like best.

Well, this is going to be going to SCOTUS, and is a bad sign. Rather disgusted with my state right now.

Curious how they'll rule here. On the one hand they're using a BS technicality, on the other it could be another chance to give states power at the expense of the federal government if they can set the precedent that states decide who's on the ballot for any reason. Regardless not sure this results in any change as colorado was certain to break blue anyhow.

It set's precedent for other states to follow, and if Trump simply isn't on the ballot in enough states, the math just will never work.

The Dems know this, they've been playing a long game, and I would not be shocked if the events of Jan 6th were done in order to both halt any objection to votes because of claims of election fraud, bought by Boebert, MTG, and co due to stuff from the election that was irregular, from moving forward. As well as to give a fig leaf to any 14th Amendment rulings to keep Trump from being able to legal run in enough states to stop him cold.

However, there is very good news.

The Colorado Supreme Court has been struck down by SCOTUS before, in relation to the Masterpiece Cakeshop stuff.

With a more conservative and originalist court now in play, I don't think this will stand, and Clarence Thomas will get more memes by the end of it.

Right but if they remove Trump, R states will begin removing Biden as well and that works both ways.

With all his shit, i'd say they'd be justified.

If Biden is impeached, as it seems the GOP wants to do, it may give them a fig leaf for 14th Amendment rulings against Biden.

We may have an election with lots of states with one or the other POTUS frontrunner are not legally able to run again in that state, but can in others.

However, a SCOTUS smackdown could halt further abuse of this type of shit.
This needs to be struck down as simply presuming guilt prior to a trial's completion. I mean, maybe, post a conviction, you could make this argument. But before a conviction? God no.
This too, it's effectively a preemptive conviction based on lies and bullshit that flies in CO as gospel among CO Dems and their friends in DC.

really? they should be removing democrats from the ballots in red states in retaliation and as a form of ultimatum
No, they really shouldn't, some things are worse than losing and following your enemy in throwing all pretences of democracy and decency out the window is one of those things. The moral choice would be for the rest of the republican candidates to remove themselves from the Colorado ballot in solidarity.

The fact that the other candidates haven't already followed suit just goes to show how far the Republican party has fallen.

I hate to say it, but we are still really just looking at VP options. Trump will be the Pres nominee, and if not him, someone worse. If Trump wasn't running, Vivek could win, but basically Trumps base is Vivek's base. Vivek is better IMO, having both the knowhow and willingness to crush the deepstate, while Trump just hates them but always seems to fall short of actually doing it, but people are attached to Trump and Trump's brand is undeniably bigger. My hope is that Trump is pissed enough that he actually pulls the trigger and fires at least a hundred thousand workers. Seriously, just look at Milei: he closed more than half of the government on day one.

There's a big issue if Trump nominates a VP like Pence or Haley that Trump will be pushed off the ballot/impeached and convicted/jailed by a state government and unable to be in office, so we get one of them as actual president.

Vivek is about the only cure for this, as he's far more threatening to the deep state than even Trump, so the deepstate basically will just suffer under Trump as opposed to drown under Vivek.
Jackass Vivek will NEVER be VP.

What democracy? If the enemy literally removes your candidates from the ballots there is no democracy.

You can be a graceful loser.

Or you can present an ultimatum, retaliate in kind. And say that if they want their guys back on your ballet then they need to add your guys back to their ballot.
