China Wuhan Virus Pandemic

I'm not saying he's done a good job of it; but quite frankly, epidemics (let alone pandemics) are notorious in catching governments unprepared. And thus far, none of the world's leaders have proven themselves to be capable of handling this one. I'd argue there's not as much shame in being incompetent, when everyone else is too.
Meh, him underplaying It served a very important purpose, it kept order. Now that there is panic, things will get out of control, it will now spread easier because the mob will be out of control. The question is what preparations were being made while the masses were calmed. If I were him, I would have underplayed it too while moving the military to step in throughout the country as needed.

So, looks like my household is in lockdown. My mother has decided it's too risky to go out, what with her having cirrhosis of the liver, and dad having Parkinson's. This also means that we're not going to go on our cruise; not that we could go even if we wanted to, as I was contacted by city hall and informed that they would be postponing my appointment to process my passport application to June (our trip was supposed to be in May).

She plans on having food delivered, and washing/disinfecting what we receive thoroughly. Once that ceases to be an option, we'll use up what we have, and then dig into our stored food when necessary. We have everything we could need, thankfully; and while it might take some creative cooking, considering my mother's health-related dietary requirements (no soy, low sodium, low sugar, high protein), I think we'll be okay for a couple months at least.

Alibaba Co-Founder and Chinese Gazillionaire Jack Ma has pledged 500,000 coronavirus testing kits and a million mask for medical personnel in the United States. He previously pledged support in countries like Iran, Japan and Spain.

This does come several months after similar pledges of support were made by American (and other) billionaires such as Bill Gates who donated money and medical supplies to help combat the initial outbreaks in China two months ago along with other governments.

Here comes the guy (me) who has to keep watching this fucking thing as part of my job, more so then my actual job in the Army! I know so much fucning shit about this thing.

So please take my words to heart.

Infection nearly everywhere.

It's history repeating itself. Globalisation and the love of money helped a lot.

Like Philadelphia with the Spanish Flu this is repeating the same.

Madagascar is all that is left!
To be fair, a lot of people were (and still are, sadly) insisting the Corona virus wasn't something to worry about, regardless of political affiliation. Trump, in my mind, has reacted about as well as one could have expected of anyone in his position.
The oversized PM that was acting as a miniature secret forum for the Right-leaning. I can call it an incident or event but the name doesn't really matter at this point only that it happened.

I said possible. As in there is a possible chance they (whoever they are) have a legitimate grievance. I do not immediately condemn another user and I want to hear them out before passing judgement. That is what I was meaning to say.

I am speaking as an outsider. I came here and honestly didn't see many identifiable Leftwing users on this site.

I am not sure where you are finding that. When it started what I saw on the news was worries of an outbreak, how china was messing up the early response, and when it spread people panicking in and out of china and many chinese and other asians were being treated as plaguebearers.

To me he didn't. He brushed it off when he should have been alert and ready to act instead of the haphazard taskforce just cobbled together.

It is highly infective. It is a bad fly. That is all it is! Yes it can kill those that are older and have health issues. So can the fucking common cold! Like god damn! Hell more people die from drugs everyday then the amount killed in the states and iirc what my battle buddy said, then what has died outside of china...

And South Korea is reacting the best, and has gotten the furthest with testing and the like!

And the REASON America isnt doing so well compared to a place like ROK. The size and how spread out the country is.

easy say you are fulfilling your promise of bringing the troops home, by pulling ones from overseas bases first
Troops in Italy and Korea are staying where they are till may.
Also, the national guard getting deployed to enforce quarantine (as well as standard and reserve armed forces) because guess what. People dont seem to be obeying it.
SORRY the military is better suited to enforce something like this then local police forces. Like fucking hell!
Yall are driving me insane!
Am I the only one keeping a calm head and comparing it to other pandemics...and the like? Seriously people.
Not as bad as flu my ass. I don't remember the flu causing this much bullshit.
That is because it is a common occurance...H1N1 caused issues. So did a whole bunch of ones. They just had a lower infection rate. The standard flu is also so damn common that is why

*sighs* For those arguing that Trump called the coronavirus a 'hoax', you are drinking the Kool-Aid and spreading the CNN. He did NOT call it a hoax, he called the Democrats claims that he wasn't responding at all to the virus a hoax, in very specific language. CNN, of course, edited the speech to delete that he was very specifically talking about the litany of hoaxes from CNN and the Left (but I repeat myself) and adding in that he was ignoring coronavirus was ALSO a hoax from them.
