I give this pandemic a 1/10. Over-hyped, about as dangerous as the flu, and most effective in areas run by idiots. Seriously, if Governor Cuomo hadn’t basically given it the run of every nursing home in New York and kept the subways open and failed to disinfect them ...

Precisely one person I know got sick, and she got better just with the ventilator. Didn’t even get Hydroxycloriquine/zpac/zinc combo treatment.

Well, Hanlon's razor being what it is, best not to attribute to malice what can easily be attributed to incompetence. Otherwise, you'll exhaust yourself fighting shadows of your enemies everywhere, and you won't be prepared for when they actually strike. Also this really isn't the thread to discuss this sort of thing, as the mods want it to be about the virus alone; not ancillary topics like the war on men.

As of the data of today, Thirty One thousand and Three Hundred Sixty Eight person clap to this declaration from inside their graves, and it is only the ones here in Italy. Of the Two Hundred Twenty Three Thousand and Ninety Six confirmed cases, again only here in Italy, of COVID-19 infectees.

We are living in a nearly total quarantine here, and we are not a Third World Nation, jokes aside on the competence of our political class.

So shut the trap up, take the precautions the Healt Organizations order to take, and next time you hear such a 'great news' on the lethality of COVID-19 punch the idiot in the face.
 
I have a question, anyone have sources of previous statements by Andrew Cuomo on the term "chinese virus"? I'm curious if he ever actually called the use of the term racist himself or said anything derogatory about Trump's use of it.

Ayup. 31,000. That’s a not-particularly-bad flu year. And Dr Birx recently said that the CDC is overestimating casualties by at least 25% because if you die with Wu Flu they are listing cause of death as Wu Flu, no matter what you died of.

I have one of those ‘essential’ jobs, so I’ve been out in this since day one. Had half the people where I work cowering at home for two weeks back when it started, so I was working mandatory overtime. It’s about as bad as the average flu for elderly people and less dangerous than that for the young and healthy. It is so mild that most people do not realize that they even have it. Antibody testing has proved that 50 to 80 times as many people have had it as the official statistics and most of those people were either asymptomatic or had extremely mild cases.

We had the initial quarantine because the media whipped up a hysterical frenzy among the uninformed and ignorant and we are still shut down because liberal governors of states with unfunded liabilities are trying to crash their economies and run their states bankrupt so that they’ll get a federal bailout. One that people like me, who are actually working, will have to pay for. Fuck that and fuck them.

Flu season lasts from October through May; that's eight months. The first case of someone with the Corona virus in the United States, meanwhile, was late January; less than five months ago. That's a difference of three months, yet here in the United States the death toll for the Corona virus is currently 88,447, according to Johns Hopkins University & Medicine. The death toll for the most recent flu season, meanwhile, was somewhere between 24,000 and 62,000, according to the CDC. They don't know the exact number, because many of them probably actually died from Corona virus; but even the upper limit is 26,447 lower than the confirmed deaths for the virus, and that difference is only going to grow with time.

As for what Dr Brix said, she has presented no evidence to support her assertion; and politically, she has reason to lie in order to push the idea that we need to force the economy to reopen as soon as possible. Oh, and the antibody testing you mentioned? Have become notorious for high rates of false positives, because the FDA let over a hundred different manufactures bring them to market without making sure what they produced actually worked first. I'm sorry to be the one to have to tell you this, but the Corona virus is worth taking seriously; not doing so is just plain foolish.

It's worse in the UK: if you get tested and are proven negative, and yet you still die in a ninety day window of that test being taken? "You died of Corona."

I get tested and I'm positive, but walk outside and get splatted by a bus, or a frozen shitsicle from a plane (if they were flying) caves my skull in? I died of 'Corona', not being smashed into paste or decapitated by some person's frozen diarrhea.

Someone has Corona but died of some other ailment, like kidney failure, cancer, or Alzheimer's? 'Corona' victims.

The UK numbers are, frankly, bullshit on par with China's truthfulness.

It's one of the reasons why people have zero faith in our government's handling of it at the moment, and another reason why people are saying "lol no fuck you" to their 'advice' and doing what they want.

People's goodwill about self-isolating has run out, and people want to get life back to normal, regardless of potential consequences (e.g. other people getting sick or even dying).
 
So you know how I mentioned how New York had a policy of forcing nursing homes to accept patients with the virus which killed lots of people? Well Pennsylvania had that policy too and for an added bit of hypocrisy the health secretary who had been in charge of ordering that policy had her own mother evacuated from her nursing home to a safe location leaving the regular people stuck there to die, didn't even give people the option to take their parents out of there for safety. Oh and as an added "bonus" the Democrats in the state legislature are circling the wagons and defending her.

 


I guess it's hard to conduct these surface studies or whatever... I dunno… but overall I mean it's good news.

Methinks that the next time China goes to the rest of the G20(and the rest of the EU for that matter, and a lot of other nations to boot) for new trade deals they're going to be in for a rough time.
