Here in Brazil our election machines all come from the government itself, no 3rd party bullshit. They are all regularly tested and hackers told to break in and report how the withstand the damage. Everyone has a Voter ID, and if you cannot get one the government will find a way to give you one by doing drives and stuff. They will literally send canoes up rives in the Amazon with army people to help so remote as fuck native tribes who are citizens can vote on the same machines the city people vote on and get the results back in time.
I definitely don't consider Brazilian OpSec regarding elections as good, especially given Electoral Justice's standard official answer to public questions regarding the safety of voting machines is 'you're talking crap, the machines are safe' in officialese, without addressing the complaints technically. I'd rather we stayed at paper voting than gone for our electronic voting machines.
That being said, Brazilian voter ID system is good, although it wouldn't work in the US, given it's a national central roster.
Also, they have to go to the most out-of-reach places in Brazil to get the voters because voting in Brazil is, in spite of being presented as a right, a
civic duty. Try getting a passport or becoming a civil servant if your voting obligations haven't been fulfilled - you won't be able to. Since Brazilians are required to vote, the Brazilian State is also required to provide access to voting.
