No, new study does not link gas stoves with asthma in children

The new study the Consumer Product Safety Commission wants to rely on to ban gas stoves is classic junk science.

Here is the study. The abstract is below.

Screen-Shot-2023-01-09-at-8.12.02-PM-728x619.png

Here is a quick summary of the some of study’s principle flaws, in no particular order:

  • It’s not actual research on children. It is a meta-analysis of previously published (and ignored) studies — a study of otherwise unpersuasive studies. The authors did a literature search for previous epidemiologic studies on gas stoves and asthma in kids and then just mixed those results together in an effort to contrive statistical significance. This is a bogus technique for a number of reasons including publications bias in the component studies — i.e., studies with null results aren’t published.
  • The study results, including the component studies, are weak statistical associations — i.e., noise range correlations. The study results, likely including the component studies, are not statistically significant either.
  • Asthma is an allergic disease. There are no allergens in natural gas. So the study has no biological plausibility. No one knows what causes asthma in children and so competing causes could not be ruled out.
  • The claim that gas stoves are responsible for 12% of childhood asthma – an epidemiologic concept called “attributable risk” – is entirely bogus because epidemiological studies can only be used to associate exposures with disease. They cannot be used to determine risk of disease because (1) the underlying data is not representative of the population; and (2) epidemiologic studies are just statistics (i.e., correlation is not causation) and cannot be used by themselves to determine cause-and-effect relationships.
If none of that means anything to you. you need to read “Junk Science Judo: Self-defense Against health Scare and Scams.”

Context; the Biden Administration recently announced planned ban on gas stoves in the name of public safety...which would make about 40% of the USA reliant on the electrical grid...which is in need of an overhaul and would make it very easy for both outside forces and a corrupt government to basically turn off the power to people's ability to cook food. Nevermind that a gas stove is almost essential if you want to live off the grid.

Student Loans: DOJ Says Overruling Biden’s Forgiveness Could Lead to Lawsuits Over ‘Virtually All Federal Action’

While the fate of borrowers’ loan repayments remains in limbo until the end of February, experts are waiting with apprehension of what an upheld Supreme Court ruling will mean, not only for federal student loan cancellation, but for future legal arguments on federal policy.

The Supreme Court will hear arguments on the legitimacy of President Biden’s plan to forgive up to $20,000 in student debt for federal borrowers making under $125,000 on Feb. 28. On Jan. 4, the Department of Justice (DOJ) submitted a filing to justify the legality of Biden’s program.

According to Business Insider, as part of its 86-page brief, the DOJ expressed concern that if the Supreme Court decides to stand by the 8th Circuit’s November ruling and invalidate Biden’s debt forgiveness program, it will set a bad precedent for future legal judgments.

The federal student loan forgiveness plan has been delayed since October due to two lawsuits filed by GOP-endorsed groups. The suits — one led by six Republican-led states arguing relief would hurt their states’ tax revenues and diminish the value of investments tied to student loans, and another by two student loan borrowers who did not qualify for the full $20,000 amount of relief — have been refuted by the Biden administration as baseless and politically-motivated.

Complicating the state-led lawsuit — pursued by Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and South Carolina — is the involvement of a third party, St. Louis-based student loan company MOHELA, which has been dragged into the legal challenge by the state of Missouri. MOHELA, one of America’s largest student loan servicers, currently has a contract with the federal government to service student loans.

Missouri contends that MOHELA will lose money under Biden’s relief program because it will have fewer student loan accounts to manage, make less money and “will make it more difficult for MOHELA to make required payments to a state fund that helps its public colleges and universities,” according to Politico.

If the Supreme Court quashes this particular cancellation program and rules in favor of the plaintiffs in the two cases it is hearing in February, it could have “startling implications” for future claims, according to the filing.

“Virtually all federal action — from law enforcement to collecting taxes to managing property — has some side effect on government finances,” the filing read. “If such side effects were enough to stand, then every state would have the right to challenge almost any federal policy.”

“(B)anks could sue anyone who causes financial harm to their borrowers, credit-card companies could sue anyone who causes financial harm to their customers, and governments could sue anyone who causes financial harm to their taxpayers,” it adds.

The current student loan pause extension runs through 60 days after June 30, 2023, or whenever the lawsuits are resolved — whichever happens first. If the Supreme Court decrees Biden’s loan forgiveness plan to be legal, the Department of Education can begin to process the 26 million applications it has already received and will re-open the application process, per Forbes.

Sounds fine to me. :D

It's not the king that controls those mechanisms of punishment. Likewise, is he really in the chain of command? When is the last time the monarchy exercised control in that way, issued orders even?

If the king and the prime minister issued contradictory orders who are troops, that is the say the local officers over the troops in most cases, going to listen to? Ninety nine times out of a hundred I would bet on the PM, with the exception being due to the terrible situation and not legalities.
If the PM ordered something, they'd do it unless it was countermanded by the King, and they'd be oathbound to obey the King over the PM/Parliament.

That'd be like a US marine obeying an order from a superior officer but then receiving orders from, say, your President to do the opposite.

It's a de jure and de facto thing, though.
Your elites truely and epically fucked up Brexit, if you lot had simply ripped off the bandage you would have recovered from the economic damage by now and would have been able to negiotate with the US for a trade deal from a position of strength. Instead you guys dragged it out for years fucking your economy, and then you wasted 4 years of trump to negitoate a trade deal and 2 years of biden.

At this point the United states is going to fuck you guys on the trade deal you make with us just on the principle that you wasted so much of our fucking time.

At this point if you had a revolution and just fucking murdered the people who were in charge of you enmass and just mass ejected all of the woke bullshit it would end up being a step up for you.
Honestly, when it comes to food exports, a trade deal wasn't going to happen -- at least from an "importing American food" perspective. To be frank, American food horrifies us over here, especially your meat industry.

Material goods, though? Yeah, we could've had a lucrative trade-deal going on, where both would have benefited greatly. But, as you said, our government fucked it up royally.

A lot of it stems from many still having half-hope that we'll rejoin the EU (they have many selfish interests in the UK rejoining the EU). It's never gonna happen, and they need to realize that.

REVEALED: World Economic Forum Partner Behind Sudden Push to Ban Gas Stoves

The abrupt push by Democrats led by the Biden Regime to ban gas stoves has enraged and confused Americans across the country. The good news is we may have found the primary culprit behind the push and it’s connected to the World Economic Forum.

RedState.com, which first broke this story, points out prominent Democrats and liberals never demonstrated an iota of concern over gas stoves before. Not even noted low-IQ Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), who made an utter fool of herself by claiming a study shows gas stoves are dangerous to brain health.

This is one of the creepiest parts of modern progressivism. AOC had never tweeted about stoves before yesterday, but, when she did for the first time, her tone was one of weary condescension toward the bitter-enders whom she's been trying to inform for years. It's cultish.

So why the manufactured outrage over gas stoves? Where did this study AOC cited come from? RedState.com has the answer:

“Regardless, it’s worth asking where this is all coming from, right? Why did Democrats all start moving in lockstep to ban gas stoves, seemingly with no prior concern at all? And sure enough, with a little digging, it’s been revealed that this isn’t just idle science taking place.”

“The company behind the study is called “Carbon-Free Buildings.” That company is a partner of the World Economic Forum and has a true-believer CEO who wants to rid the world of all carbon emissions (which is impossible and would lead to mass extinction).”

OMG. The company that wrote the article being used to ban gas stoves is a world economic forum (WEF) partner.

To no one’s surprise this all connects back to the World Economic Forum (WEF). The same megalomaniacs who years ago informed the masses that they “will own nothing and be happy.”

Certainly looks like the Regime and its fellow Democrats have received marching orders from their globalist masters. The WEF and the Democrats both share a common goal of eliminating fossil fuels for the commoners while they fly gas-guzzling private jets across the globe. The elimination of gas stoves qualifies another step toward completing their scheme.

As the Joker from The Dark Knight once said, “it’s all part of the plan.” If you have not realized this until now, then you really have not been paying attention.

Oh look! What a surprise. See, this is my surprised face. 😒

Looks like Biden fucked up a another stash of secret documents.
at least this one wasn't somewhere that was funded by china.

Eh if that is the case then be a bit selective in what you allow but if the choice was American food or European food for 3 to 4 times the price how many would argue to the working class that they need to bite their tongues and have their kids eat 1 less meal a day? how long could they stay in office? admittedly with how the conservatives have bafflingly held onto power so far they might have managed it based solely on the sheer bloody incompetence of the Labor Party.

There are downsides to not being able to source your food from your own country and one of them is you get what other countries produce for the prices they offer them at. either that or figure out how to produce more food.

Not a particularly good look for the Wooden Puppet In Chief, no?

Feel free to correct me if I’m being “sloppy” with the facts, but didn’t Trump get raided over precisely this back in August?

Or, did Biden do something more egregious, the corporate press treating him with kid gloves notwithstanding?

He did- what makes Biden even worse is that he did this while he was Vice President. Which unlike what Trump did, IS illegal.

Because the President (and not his Vice) is the only one who can declassify at his discretion?

If so, then it’d be helpful if Business Insider made that distinction in this little piece where they try to cover Biden’s ass. Note in particular how they claim Biden’s team notified the authorities immediately… even though they were literally from his Vice Presidency, where you’re not quite entrusted with the same privileges as your boss yet. Heck, they don’t even mention that the President can declassify as he pleases, much less explain why the National Archives requesting Trump to return documents is legally binding.

to be fair this was probably a thing that has been going on for a while. it wouldn't surprise me if you named any president or VP after WW2 and said they brought some documents home. the thing is that they decided to start going after orange man over it so now it needs to be enforced.

I’m honestly of the opinion that in a just world, all presidents (and their cabinet members) would get raided and be expected to cooperate in good faith, seeing as those in power — MAGA and Establishment alike — should probably be held to a higher standard of accountability than the rest of us.

Unfortunately, that’s not the world we live in, so if they suddenly want to raid Trump while leaving LBJ, Nixon, and both Bushes alone for years, and years, and years… then I’m not sure I trust the US government as it is right now with that kind of power.

Quick thought for a moment; could this second pile of documents-or even the first as well- have been a set up? Either in terms of them being planted altogether or the timing of them being found?

With this being a plan by either the Democrats or Deep State as a way of shuffling Biden off the stage where he can be replaced by someone who, at least for a time, might not be as senile/inept/unpopular?

is it a distraction? prolly. could it be used to feed biden into a meat grinder and drag trump in after him. if they actually roll with this is an impeachable and disqualifying offense then that is a play they could make. in that case I think the Republican bench is a bit better than the dem bench for 2024 so an over all positive move even if I would be sad to not get a second trump term.

You’re assuming a lot of intelligence and forethought on behalf of the democrats when botH them and Biden have demonstrated equal capacity for some utter stupidity, and hypocrisy.
