Ok it's a good movie.

Better than expected. No (that I could discern) tainted forced message and some scenes were beautiful.

Also slightly better CGI than the last Marvel-Disney movie I watched.

So @Abhorsen I started watching the new Evil Dead movie film, Evil Dead Rise. I should be able to finish in one sitting but let's see since D&D Honor Among Thieves took me double the time it actually was to finish it and not just because what I posted earlier.

I don't know much relevant it is but here you go with bit of info from Wikipedia :

Evil Dead Rise had its premiere at South by Southwest (SXSW) on March 15, 2023, and was released in the United States on April 21, by Warner Bros. Pictures. The film received generally positive reviews from critics, and has grossed over $132 million worldwide against a production budget of $15–19 million, making it the highest-grossing film in the series.

Which is surprising considering Raimi and Campbell are involved only as producers and Campbell has said that at best they would make a final Ash Vs Evil Dead season which would be done with animation.

They're making a second Gladiator movie.

Will it actually be called Gladiator 2?

Apparently Ridley Scott announced this last year. Denzel Washington and Pedro Pascal will be starring in this film. Also Connie Nielsen will be reprising her role as Lucilla, Maximus' love interest and the brother of Emperor Commodus, Gladiators main villain. It will apparently take place 25-30 years after the first film.

I'm pretty... ambivalent on this, mainly because I don't think it's a film that requires a sequel. The fact that Ridley Scott is actually doing it makes it seem less pointless, but still kinda pointless. Looks like Scott has been wanting to make a sequel for a while though but wanting it to be a "legitimate" continuation of the story.

Hope it turns out awesome even if it feels completely unneccessary.

If it was a moneymaker, it will get a sequel no matter how unnecessary, it is how the things are today. I don't think they will manage to catch the lightning like in the original movie.

Martin Scorsese's Killers of the Flower Moon which is about the murder of numerous Osage Indians and others back in the 1920's when oil was found on their reservation and the subsequent investigation by law enforcement including a 'Bureau of Investigation' led by a 29 Year Old J. Edgar Hoover.

Looks pretty intense. The actual historical events revolving around murdering Indians in order to get oil inheritance rights were brutal as well so the film might try and match that historical tone.

I am very tempted to watch this movie but with that sanctimonious progressive of Di Caprio makes me want to skip it.

Maybe I should give an exception as I am doing that for Evil Dead Rise and did the same for Dungeons & Dragons Honor Among Thieves which had Hugh Grant in it.

So is the movie any good?

The article seemed to spend the whole time talking about how much they don't like the people that made it and the message.

So there is a bit of a conundrum. Maybe you already know to take IMDB ratings and scores with a fistful of salt , so I use for both that AND Letterboxd :

This are the guys who made God Is Not Dead 1 and 2 and they notoriously BAD high production movies.

I am curious to watch it to say the least.

Anyone here seen Skinamarink? It's a very divisive film, you either loved it or hated it, I personally found it enthralling; basically two kids wake up and all the doors and windows to their house are gone, and there's this malevolent entity that can bend reality to its whims and it basically tortures the poor kids throughout the entirety of the film, there's also some genuinely terrifying moments that I won't spoil for any horror afficionados out there

I will give it a try once my last exam is done.

Kraven The Hunter trailer has been released by Sony Pictures.

It almost had me somewhat interested with the first minute or so as it introduced Russell Crowe as a domineering Father over his Sons, one of whom would be the Kraven guy.

Then uhhh... as it told what seemed to be 90% of the story in the trailer I really lost any interest the first bits of the trailer actually impacted me with. The prologue seemed well set up but everything else seems incredibly balls. Even the CGI with the blood squibs and action/choreography looks uninspired and boring. The line delivery is monotone. The story seems blah and overall it just seems so mediocre at best.

Honestly looks to be another Sony flop like Morbius. Though to be fair I had no idea Morbius was a thing until it was released and meme'd to death. This movie I guess seems to have more potential then that one IMHO. Still looks like a pass to me.

And the villain reveal at the end of the trailer. Oh man... that landed like a wet fart. Still, probably a better version of the character then we've already seen in a live action film. :sneaky:

@Husky_Khan I remembered you wanted horror games, so I hope you also like horror shorts :

Neat I'll check them out when it gets dark!

I do like the horror genre for movies. Generally prefer the more psychological horror or thriller type of films (and shorts). Or the cosmic flavored ones like below.

Not a fan of most jumpscare centered media... but if they're properly set up... like this masterclass by David Lynch below.

And this is just a nice general horror short.
