Honestly, the revolution was all on Tsar Nicholas. There'd been discontent since before the war with Japan and he had plenty of warning something might happen as it did, but he really didn't do anything to address any of it. Russia's entry into WWI expedited it, but it probably would've happened eventually anyway even if they hadn't entered the war. Probably the only thing that could have prevented the rise of the soviets would be if the Tsar had accepted having less than absolute power, and adopted something similar to what Britain or Germany had in terms of limited/constitutional monarchy.
