Russian Invasion of Ukraine 2022

Basically, look at the Chrnyoble Pripyat area
Not sure what they were earlier today or yesterday, but are we looking at containment breach's or some radioactive debris/land being disturbed?

Saw your further replies, would be good to try to find what the levels were a couple days back, before we freak out too bad.

If a shell really did hit a waste repository, the real danger is the contaminants getting into the ground water; once they are in it, the ground water in the area becomes poisoned for a decades to centuries.

They had Spetsnaz, a VDV detachment of them took the sirport and got thier asses beat.

Also, meet the hero of the skies

I can't believe you don't even know the difference between the VDV (paratroopers/air assault) and the SSO (Spetsnaz).

It's like the difference between the US Army Rangers and the Delta Force, for example.

Like I said before.

Something seems off.

No Russian Spetnaz nor Russian naval infantry.

The Russians haven't sent their best forces.

Kiev airport attack was a trap and the Ukrainians took the bait.

Looks like Spetsnaz and SSO units have likely been deployed.

And the Airport Attack being a distraction is just pure internet speculation at this point. It was likely done to accelerate the surrounding of Ukraine, not as a "trap" where you through away the lives of a battalion of highly trained airborne forces.

To be fair it is not unusual to have them work together, IE perform joint operations. Spetsnaz is just Russian special forces in a broad term, and there are various incarnations of them just like we have here in the U.S. VDV of course are conventional forces, but being rapid-deployable and airborne, and typically regarded among the more elite and prestigious of Soviet/Russian ground forces.

Then list them, seriously.

And claiming you're a SANE leftist? Please define that term without coming off as a narcissist.
while this is off topic, he is obviously sane, we all have seen his views, but still don’t attack other members.

To be fair unless he is focused on intel for Russia, which if I recall he isn’t, why would he know.

Plus there's 'Spetsnaz' Units in the VDV anyhow IIRC.

Despite claims by Putin’s government that Russian troops weren’t involved in the fighting in Ukraine, the Spetsnaz unit of the VDV RF (the “little green men”) took part in the 2014 Crimean crisis. Several hundred members of the 45th Detached Guards Spetsnaz Regiment and the 22nd Spetsnaz brigade were sent in, disguised as civilians. They seized the airport, several military bases in Crimea, and the parliament in Simferopol.

45th Guards Spetsnaz Brigade - Wikipedia

Same one reported to be operating in the Ukraine presently AFAIK.

TBF this charge gets brought up a lot. Outside of Zachowon though... NO ONE has advocated War with Russia over the Ukraine and yet constantly people are smeared as such for disagreeing with them on one foreign policy issue. It's an annoying Strawman that is constantly brought up.

I've heard that a Russian platoon literally surrendered to the Ukrainians despite being completely combat-able.

Any reason why they are flying so low?

As husky has shown, the 45th Guards Spetsnaz Brigade... But of course you dont know that because you are focused on the SSO, which are more like SEAL team six...

Yeah supposedly a platoon from the 74th Motorized Rifle Brigade

the platoon’s commander is said to have claimed he only learned of the invasion on Wednesday and believed they were going to return hom.

Sounds like the Russians were sending in troops who weren't very motivated? Or is this just officers trying to save their own skin?

It's a rapid advance they are executing.

Remember in the 2003 Invasion of Iraq that a Logistical Company got ambushed outside of Nasiriyah at night time and suffered proportionately high casualties in dead and captured.

Or in the Russo-Georgian War... Georgian Special Forces ambushed a Russian Armored Column and almost killed the commanding General of the entire Army on the first day of combat involving Russia.

Shit happens!

Maybe the platoon got ambushed behind the "front lines" or was otherwise detached from supporting forces or left behind in a retreat.

Keep in mind, a group of Russian paratroopers was captured by Ukrainian forces back in 2014 and Russia said they "accidentally" crossed the border during the Donbass Conflict back then.

Thanks. Didn't know which unit.
