Spetsnaz is just Russian special forces in a broad term, and there are various incarnations of them just like we have here in the U.S. VDV of course are conventional forces, but being rapid-deployable and airborne, and typically regarded among the more elite and prestigious of Soviet/Russian ground forces.

TBF this charge gets brought up a lot. Outside of Zachowon though... NO ONE has advocated War with Russia over the Ukraine and yet constantly people are smeared as such for disagreeing with them on one foreign policy issue. It's an annoying Strawman that is constantly brought up.

It's a rapid advance they are executing.

Remember in the 2003 Invasion of Iraq that a Logistical Company got ambushed outside of Nasiriyah at night time and suffered proportionately high casualties in dead and captured.

Or in the Russo-Georgian War... Georgian Special Forces ambushed a Russian Armored Column and almost killed the commanding General of the entire Army on the first day of combat involving Russia.

Keep in mind, a group of Russian paratroopers was captured by Ukrainian forces back in 2014 and Russia said they "accidentally" crossed the border during the Donbass Conflict back then.
