Russian Invasion of Ukraine 2022

A Flying Bundle of Sticks
This one is complete Ukrop fascist propaganda.
Did a quick google and one result came up.
The result cited a Ukrainian high command "report".

Like I said, OSINT is a bunch of randos jumping around a pile of sand, calling it gold dust.

Propaganda? In this thread? Surely you jest. Besides, I have it on good authority that we're not supposed to argue about sources in here. Or offer personal amateur analysis, so I'll let you look up the state of domestic Russian microchip manufacturing on your own. Components lol

Anyhow, on to news!

This map is likely from around March 10th. This should clarify ORBAT tracking of the conflict in this region greatly.

This is the second Russian casualty who was hit during bridging operations. The problem with pontoon bridges is that they are basically big floats, and when artillery hits them, it pokes them full of holes. This problem also applies to any people nearby the bridge.

Look at the bright side - at least they're not taping him to the lamp-post. That would be assault and battery, or so I am told.

Meanwhile, multiple sources telling the media that the US military can't figure out who's in charge of this very, very special operation. Perhaps because the Russians don't know either?

So as I was saying about the whole artillery range and bridges thing

Ukraine using human shields, again:

In the middle of an empty four-lane boulevard? They're doing a pretty shit job of it, aren't they? They could take some lessons from the VDV in Bucha, two days ago:

See, right up against small suburban dwellings made of wood, so close you couldn't even squeeze between the house and tank sideways. That is how you use human shields.

Also @Agent23 looks like you were half right about that famine lmao

Zelenski jailing, torturing and silencing more opponents, including MMA fighters, tiktokers, other politicians and opposition parties.
But hey, the media says the oligarch-financed, nazi-controlled or aligned clown and potential coke head is the good guy here, nothing to see, move along.
Ukraine: Zelensky Uses Martial Law to Ban Main Opposition Party In Crackdown on ‘Division’
The Opposition Platform — For Life, Left Opposition, Progressive Socialist Party of Ukraine, Socialist Party of Ukraine, Socialists, Union of Left Forces, Party of Shariy, Opposition Bloc, Ours, State, and Volodymyr Saldo Bloc have all been banned by decree amid the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine for at least “the period of the martial law.”

The foremost victim of the crackdown is the Opposition Platform — For Life, which as of the 2019 general election was the second most popular political party in Ukraine after Zelensky’s own Servant of the People party — named after the television show of the same name which starred Zelensky as an ordinary man who became President, shot to fame by a channel run by the controversial Ukrainian-Israeli oligarch Ihor Kolomoisky.

The ban was announced on Sunday, and will suspend the operation of the party, which earned 13 per cent of the national vote in 2020 and is most successful in areas of Ukraine with large ethnic Russian and Russian-speaking populations, along with the other, predominantly leftist-branded parties named in the decree.

“The activities of those politicians aimed at division or collusion will not succeed, but will receive a harsh response,” President Zelensky is reported as saying by Ukrajinska Pravda.

“Therefore, the National Security and Defence Council decided, given the full-scale war waged by Russia and the political ties that a number of political structures have with this state, to suspend any activities of a number of political parties during martial law,” the statement continued.

All of the parties banned in the country — which has previously been described as “democratic” by U.S. President Joe Biden — have been considered Eurosceptic, anti-liberal, or pro-Russian by the Zelensky government, according to Der Spiegel.

None of the shit he has pulled and all the lies he has spewed out will help him domestically, especially not in Eastern Ukraine where he won votes primarily because he was promising to stop with the forced Ukrainization.

More alleged captures from the Kyiv front.

As well as a reported counteroffensive in the village of Moschun near Kyiv, supposedly back under Ukrainian control after having been contested for the past couple weeks.

Azov Battalion reportedly struck a Raptor-class Patrol Boat with ATGM fire, putting the boat out of action.

Kharkov Zoo...

War Porn footage of Ukrainian Artillery apparently striking at Russian vehicles hiding within forested regions.

We call that assault and battery here.

Different area and unit. Also a repair depot would not have unsecured ammo about, this was clearly a staging area which was overran before the vehicles could be manned.

It's a bridge. Engineers can use it as a base for a temporary road.

So,Mighty russian army still could not capture Mariunpol, even after using thermobaric weapons.Pathetic.
And they captured lieutnant.Great victory,indeed.

It seems, that they would fight till next year,if their advance would be as rapid as they are now.
Is it only me,or Putin is leading his army to ensure that both Ukraine and russian army cease to exist ?

So a picture with a claim with zero supporting evidence, such as footage from the TB2 itself which the Ukrainians were putting out until recently and now has suddenly stopped putting out?

Also should point out that Russia launches vastly more drone sorties in a day than Ukraine does in a week. Russian launches 200 Fixed Wing Sorties a Day compared to UkA's 5 to 10 a day. And Russia's Helicopters are going non-stop.

Should point out, Raqqah the same size by area as Mariupol took 4 months, 1 week and 4 days to clear 5,000 ISIS fighters, many of whom were given safe passage out to their remaining strongholds. Russians are much further along than the joint US/YPG offensive was by this point.

1.Russian helicopters are using rockets from safe distance to not be schoot down - which mean, that they could hit by accident only.
2.People who made that post are idiots. How russians could liberate ukrainian city from ukrainians? and ,if it is liberation, why people there do not joined them first day?

Following that logic,Putin could destroy your city, capture it,and would you name it as liberation, too?

Also - 14.000 nazis.REALLY? even if Azow battalion was really nazi, tell me since when one battalion have 14.000 soldiers? it is dyvision.
And ,shouting about nazis is really cute when russian are waving red banners of soviet genociders, who wiped out russian nation.

YouTube Channel 'Good Times Bad Times' offered some nice analysis of the situation.

> 0:30 In they identify some issues with the current military situation. There's a stalemate and Russia doesn't have enough manpower currently in theater to engage in the operations they wanted to. Donbass is still in danger of being encircled. Mariupol is still isolated, 100 kilometers within Russian occupied territory.
> 2:00 The Russians are busy replenishing losses and lost a fair bit of Offensive Capability. There's an unfavorable ratio of attacking to defending troops in general that may be getting worse. Hence the rumors of using Syrian mercenaries, citing adverts for the Russian military on their version of 'Craigslist' and how Belarussian forces, if they intervene, would be of dubious value to Minsk and Moscow due to having even lower standards of training and morale.
> 4:45 Overwhelming firepower, "surprise" and shock helped the Russians gain an initial advantage which depleted after the first two weeks of the War.
> 8:00 The predictions of Oleksiy Arestoyvch, an Advisor to President Zelensky made over two years ago about how Russia will, with 99% probability, will launch an Invasion of Ukraine between 2020 and 2022 and one of the goals of the Invasion would be to destroy Ukraine's infrastructure so as to prevent it from joining NATO. The other alternative would simply be becoming a Russian client state in less then ten years like Belarus. He also predicted an Offensive Air Operation towards Kyiv, a Siege of Kyiv, the Russians attempting an encirclement of forces in the Donbass and attacks from Belarussian territory and the establishment of new "Peoples Republics."
> 12:30 Analyzing the potential of wider Russian mobilization.
> 14:00 Loss of faith in Russian investments and an exodus from Russia to other countries with estimates ranging from 200-500,000 people. Mostly young, healthy, educated and qualified.
15:00 Russian-Chinese Relationship and Russian FM stating this is a Battle for a New World Order.

Bunch of posts (with the exception of one) shunted off to the Don Bass. Once again, quibbling about sources without proper counter-evidence beyond your hot takes is not allowed in this thread as those discussions derail this conversation with endless circular conversations about said sources and resolves nothing except clogging this thread with posts that aren't directly related to news in this conflict. This particular discussion (like others) led to trolling and personal attacks and flame baiting behavior and other Rule #2 Civility Violations and unfortunately led to the first Threadban due to the ignoring of Multiple Staff Directives in regards to engaging in that kind of posting in this thread.

Also a discussion on comparing Mariupol to Marawi was shunted off to DonBass like other previous 'comparisons' to foreign conflicts. That's all for now.

Why is a guy with a link to a song praising Augusto Pinochet in his signature upset because Zelinsky banned parties including "Left Opposition," "Progressive Socialist Party of Ukraine," "Socialist Party of Ukraine," and "Socialists, Union of Left Forces?" 🤔🤔🤔

In other news the Ukrainians just captured a battery of Russia's most powerful and sophisticated EW system completely intact:

(Older) footage showing Ukrainian tanks involved in urban combat in Mariupol. We haven't seen much video of Ukrainian armor usage since the opening day of the war and the mad scrambles in the south. What little I've seen tends to be two-tank sections, usually in urban combat or a raid. Does anyone know if Ukraine still uses Soviet 3-tank platoon doctrine, or did they switch to western 4-tank platoons/14 tank companies?

Another T-72A. What museums are they robbing!?

They were transitioning before the war, armored brigades were supposed to be already using Western structure, armored battalions attached to mechanized brigades and tank companies attached to infantry brigades were still supposed to be using Soviet system. Armored units in Mauripol are probably armored company of the 56th motorized brigade and elements of the National Guard armored battalion, which is outside of army structure so it's possible it is operating in four tanks platoons, or they are compensating for casualties and breakdowns.

All right. I have been paying attention to the Twitter chatter on both sides, but this is a particular take on why Russian infantry equipment has been lackluster. Do any veterans want to weigh on this if you have the time? Especially in regard to the last lines about night operations?

And from that exact same Twitter thread. Someone posted a photo that appears to show either a Russian soldier or a soldier from one of the People’s Republics next to a Maxim gun. No. I am unfortunately not making that up.

I also apologize if it duplicates, Twitter seems to like repeating despite there being a separate link.

An American Volunteers account of serving in the Ukranian Foreign Legion.

Highlights include that despite accounts stating foreign volunteers weren't allowed to leave after signing contracts, he was without issue.

Apparently a lot of foreign volunteers are also being dismissed due to mediocre performance, discipline issues and lying about their combat credentials. Apparently there were a lot of fake Special Forces operators. They are now vetting more stringently for actual combat experience an qualifications.

This soldier, who served seven years as a tank Crewman served two weeks in the conflict and his last mission was an eight kilometer hike to check on the last known position of a Georgian fighter and ended with a thirteen hour trek where he carried the man's body back to friendly forces.
