Russian Invasion of Ukraine 2022

Tiamat

I've seen the future...
At the end of the day I would like it for Ukraine to win.

But I don't want america to put boots on the ground there, particially because I'm tired of 20 years of war and also because I think we would fuck it up like with did with both Iraq and afganistan.

Ukraine hasn't asked for American troops on the ground in Ukraine, last I checked. There are officially American volunteers in the foreign legions working in Ukraine, but nobody ordered them to go.

Honestly, this constant regurgitation about "No American boots on Ukrainian soil!", when no one's ordered or asked American boots to be on Ukrainian soil, is getting tiresome and redundant.

I think Supply people have been sent to verify equipment is where it belongs but like..
That is in West Ukraine near polish border or probably at the Embassy

I'd caution against a truly massive winter offensive on Ukraine's part, but if they wanted to make some gains I just don't see how the Russian Army can stop them. Their troops are demoralised, cold, tired, badly equipped, and badly led. A battle hardened Ukrainian force would fall on them like a hammer smashing glass.

I sort of already know the answer, but I still have to ask, why is Putin even bothering by this point?
Part sunk cost fallacy, part saving face and legacy, part not understanding how bad things really are, part his closest staff insisting on "massaging the news" so that he doesn't begin understanding how bad things really are in case he might blame them for this.

EDIT: Speaking of:

Not so sure about that one, he might be wrong - North Korea may be a bit more special.

we don't.

Russia isn't nearly close to its breaking point, and messing about with their internals can backfire hard. I can respect wanting to remove Russia from the board as a great power, but america's record on both nation building and regieme change is fucking terrible and we would likely just make things even worse then they are now.
Yeah -- except for Germany (which had massive help from other Allied powers, like the UK), Japan, and South Korea (the only two success stories), every attempt by the US to rebuild other nations in their image/according to their values has failed in the most spectacular fashion.

If there is covert assistance to these elements to help Russia basically collapse, when Russia does collapse, they'll have to work shit out on their own again.

America trying to stick its dick into that frozen hellhole will just result in a frostbitten dick.
Russia already messes with our internals, and have since like the 60's, if not earlier (A-bomb blue prints sold by Rosenbergs ring a bell).

We don't need to conquer or nation build Russia, we just need to neuter Russia's/Putin's imperial ambitions by turning them into a giant North Korea in term of sanctions and the punishments for breaking them, along with restricting any official, public, and even private citizens of Russia from visiting outside their nation or places like the CCP/NK, and destroy their oil industry with fusion power.

Make it so that Putin and his cronies will be lynched by their own citizens for what they have done tot their futures or their children futures. Remove Russian forces from the Kurile, South Ossetia, Konisgberg, and make sure every Russian from here on curses Putin for what he did to his nation and it's future.

We cannot fix or save Russia, and it's not worth it to try to utterly destroy it in warfare, but we can limit the damage Russians can do to the rest of the world.

A total creep
That text adds so much insult to injury ...

In that Kreminna photo, with the POWs, the gold and red ribbons are used to distinguish the two sides, as same or similar equipment makes them difficult to differentiate otherwise?

Nah, pretty sure the Red was what the Russians were using for ID; good old Red Army is supposed to be feared, after all.

And this is the second day in a row of strikes on Engels.

So maybe a few more TU-95's knocked out before the year is out, if the attacks continue like this.

Not just 95s, 22s and 160s as well.
The first strike on Engels a few weeks back seriously damaged a couple 22s, enough they probably needed full engine-tail section rebuilds.

And we still do not know what was struck yesterday, or if those totals were yesterday and today's strike's together.

Ukraine getting first strike against Russian strategic bombers is huge

Turns out, the Ukrainian's didn't need ATACMS to hit Russia in depth. They just needed time to spin up production of indigenous long range weapons.

At this point anything within 2000km of Ukraine's borders is in range of Ukraine's newest stuff.

Which includes the Kremlin itself, as well as most of the Russian core west of the Urals.

Edit:

Russia cannot keep up with the amount of 152mm shells needed, and new ones have defects
