Either military buildings are on fire in Simferopol, Crimea for some reason...

Or it's a common household fire, like the one Biden talked about harrowingly when he visited Lahaina after it burned down.

Yes and no.
Defense in depth is more you minimize casualties by pulling back before the enemy overruns your position.
They are only doing it here because they break through and they route in fear

Yeah, I mean Russia built line after line of defenses, but only withdraw out of fear, not because Russian defensive doctrine is to avoid CQB and withdraw if possible to the next set of defenses.

Except, we have seen them route in fear not in a way a preoper defense in deoth should be done.
You should move back with massive amounts of suppressing fire, and your trenches should nit be breached before you withdraw.
Which is what we are seeing, they withdraw after being breached. They don't have artillery cover or machine gun fire supporting thier pull out. Allowing for the Ukrainians to gain the trenches at a decent pace compared to what should be actually happening.

Knowing doctrine is my job

Could be an accident yes.
Thinking it was Ukrainians advancing or something
Could also be artillery barrier troops

Multiple missile strikes reported in Sevastopol, reportedly near one of the occupied drydocks.

If they actually managed to hit the dock while both a landing ship and Kilo were in it...hot damn.

Even the Russian MoD is stating two ships were damaged (but also vowing they will be restored).

A frigate may have also been damaged in addition to the Kilo Submarine and Ropucha-class landing ship.

Hot damn. They've probably not destroyed them beyond repair, but having one possibly two ships out out action for however long in drydock is big news.

Also, fixing heavy equipment that was damage in the dry-docks themselves is a pretty massive endeavor as well.

If this Ropucha-class was significantly damaged in this latest strike it might just be damaged beyond repair now. Two other Ropucha-class landing ships were struck way back in March of 2022 in the Port of Berdyansk (by an old Ukrainian Tochka Ballistic missile no less) and were damaged and remain out of service due to a lack of spare parts allegedly.

At this point it's likely any major damage to the units of the Black Sea Fleet is beyond Russia's ability to repair until the end of the war

More strikes in Crimea last night. Apparently this time it was drones and Ukrainian Neptune anti-ship missiles used against Russian military positions located near the coast.

But not just any position, ones housing multiple S-400 Air Defense Systems which were reportedly struck and destroyed.

One of the S-400 locations was revealed by a beach going tourist over a year ago in August 2022 and apparently didn't move but in fact was expanded on.
