It seems that in the UK, if you are elderly and die of natural causes, your death will be automatically attributed to Covid-19. No matter if you were infected or not. No matter if you really died of something totally different. The NHS are under orders to mark every single case as Covid.
This sort of thing is going to lead to serious distrust of public institutions, if they've been deliberately falsifying medical data.

Hospitals have admitted it, in the US for instance coding it as covid results in getting more money.
it's true. It's also one of many reasons why no-one is listening to anything the NHS and government are saying anymore.

There's a reason most shops and schools are opening up again in June and July. The Government has not only realised just how badly Neil Ferguson got it wrong, they also know that the public are quickly running out of patience with them. It's become obvious now that Wuhan-Flu is not nearly as dangerous as we thought, and no amount of media hysteria can change that.
In all honesty, I hope lessons are learned from this. In so far as the Brits will distrust big daddy government a good deal more, and perhaps ask why it has so much power in the first place. A man can dream.

COVID-19 has apparently killed 98,717 of my fellow Americans in just a couple months. That's all the deaths from a bad flu season in one-quarter the time, and even with ridiculous lockdowns on top of everything else. That's a fatality rate of 20.6% in the resolved cases, and 5.9% overall.
That's not proof it came from a lab. This is:

The overall fatality rate of the symptomatic is only about 1.3%, the key words there however are "of the symptomatic", as the virus has a non-symptomatic rate of something like 50%, which means we are actually looking at something like an overall 0.65% fatality rate.

Coronavirus is contagious as all balls, which is why there are so many deaths. When, in all likelihood, it has blown through millions already, it is no shock that tens of thousands have died. With that in mind however, when thousands die out of millions (even without discounting people who die of random shit being labelled as Covid-19 victims), the death rates don't seem so terrifying. It's hardly bubonic plague.
Wuhan-Flu is not great, and those it kills don't die well, but it has been blown out of proportion. So much so that in our blind panic we may have hurt ourselves more than the virus ever could.

I can't think that it was meant to be a weapon, there would have been more security in place, at the very least to make sure the scientists could be killed before they leaked the warcrimes.
What I think took place was good old Chernoble style hubris and stupidity. They wanted to know what a zoonotic version of a covid virus found in bats would do... so they decided to make one, and do some experiments on it. Then containment was lost because of stupid.
I think it's exactly what it looks like. A gain-of-function SARS strain that was modified with multiple genetic insertions, which leaked out of a laboratory in an accident, probably back in October.
This is from a geneticist on 4chan who stated that it was very unlikely that you'd see the same amino acid sequence appear miraculously inserted in a coronavirus four times in a row:
