COVID-19 has apparently killed 98,717 of my fellow Americans in just a couple months. That's all the deaths from a bad flu season in one-quarter the time, and even with ridiculous lockdowns on top of everything else. That's a fatality rate of 20.6% in the resolved cases, and 5.9% overall.
And the 'it came from the lab' hypothesis gets another tick mark.
China should be forced to pay for the medical bills, lost wages, and the economic damage they have done to the rest of the world.
That's not proof it came from a lab.
This is:
It binds to human cells far, far better than animal cells. Like it was designed to do so. This was no zoonotic disease. This thing came out of a fucking test tube.
There's a reason most shops and schools are opening up again in June and July. The Government has not only realised just how badly Neil Ferguson got it wrong, they also know that the public are quickly running out of patience with them. It's become obvious now that Wuhan-Flu is not nearly as dangerous as we thought, and no amount of media hysteria can change that.
In all honesty, I hope lessons are learned from this. In so far as the Brits will distrust big daddy government a good deal more, and perhaps ask why it has so much power in the first place. A man can dream.
Anything that drives distrust in big government is a win in my book, but we must still be cautious. A gain-of-function pathogen with many unknown properties is in the wild, still.
