Reportedly pictures of the aftermath of a failed pontoon bridge crossing by the Russians.

Reportedly Video of a Russian Helicopter being shot down over Snake Island by a Bayraktar drone.

Supposedly pictures of Russian troops operating a commercial drone via tablet.

Russian Forces have Liberated Popasna!

Amnesty International has released a briefing article detailing some of the many Russian War Crimes Perpetrated Against Ukraine.

So that is the MI 8 the MoD mentioned

They all have had western military experience before fighting for Ukraine.
So you mean people who joined the Ukrainians after they served in a western military?
Just wanted to make sure no confusion
The Russian MoD mentioned three Helicopters lost... And two Flankers. And a landing craft. And like two Bayraktar drones as well.
Maybe they are compensating fir losing a whole helicopter worth of SF...oh wait.

Looks like this isn't fake either. The Ukrainians did kill a MI i

Yes.

Including a certain Canadian general:

Conveniently resigned on April 5th from Canadian forces, but was absent since February.

This guy is also said to be in Ukraine at Azovstal and was in Ukraine as part of US army duties training the Ukrainians pre-war:

The only 'proof of life' from him so far since the war started is a linkdin post. No pics or video.

There is speculation he is in Azovstal. Unlikely.
Dude is also not current Canadian military

Wonderful, that makes him a foreign mercenary, and since the DNR and LNR now have de facto jurisdiction over the area and he is helping Azov - a terrorist.
Frankly, all these foreign morons should be labeled as such and given the full GITMO treatment.
Hope he likes forced anal hydration and waterboarding.
And I hope any Russian POWs are treated fiarley and given full quarter by the Geneva convention.
Because treat your POWs good and they may often think they are fighting for the wrong side

Thread Update
Few pages worth of "discussion" were relegated to the Don Bass thread. Several threadbans have also been issued, mostly due to Rule #2 Violations.

Since this hasn't been said recently (though its been stated repeatedly), this thread is for reporting and discussion on events and news directly related to the Russian Invasion of Ukraine. Most armchair and amateur analysis and hot takes/speculation should go into the Donb Ass Thread. Constant bickering about propaganda and sources without... substance of any sort, go into the Donb Ass thread. Meme posting and jokes goes into the Donb Ass thread. Constant back and forths between posters barely discussing anything... will also go to the Donb Ass thread because having fifty two and three line posts burying actually discussion and coverage of the war isn't the intention for this thread for people who want to actually read about the War going on.

Discussion on your fantasies pertaining to prostitution, torture, cheerleading war crimes, ree'ing about Nazis, insulting people. wishing they go to prison, blaming them for war crimes or other stupidity, using slurs and so forth certainly doesn't belong here and not only is Donb Ass behavior, but likely against the rules, specifically the ones pertaining to posts that derail a thread, are directed as personal attacks against other members, meant to instigate rules violations from other posters and so forth.

Media of Bayraktar Drones apparently taking out more Russian Raptor Patrol Boats from the Engagements around Snake Island yesterday.

Footage from a few weeks ago apparently of Ukrainian Artillery Fire Striking a Russian Encampment Laden with Military Vehicles.

Russian Forces Apparently Destroyed an Orthodox Monastery located in the Donbass.

Article on how the recent troubles of the past few years and especially past few months have torn apart the Russian Internet Giant Yandex.

Looks like the Russian's are going for full mobilization; guess Putin's surprise for tomorrow has been spoiled.

Now comes the real question.

Will they spend the months necessary to train them up to minimum standards? Or will they just hand them some fifty year old kit and toss them into the Ukraine meatgrinder?

I think they are pulling in contract troops from other conflict zones to act as NCO's/leaders for the conscripts.

Russians Allegedly Struck a School Sheltering Civilian Refugees, Upwards of Sixty People Feared Dead.

One of the Raptor Patrol Boats Destroyed was Rumored to be one of Putin's Favorite.

Yet another ZALA KYB Loitering Munition that Failed to Explode and Captured by Ukrainian Forces.

Czech Volunteer Posing with a Stinger MANPAD.

Also CZ Volunteers showing off CZ Pistol, CZ Submachine Gun and CZ Assault Rifle!!!!1 @prinCZess!!!1

Oddly no CZ Brens like seen in the many other pictures of foreign fighters.

Russian Soldiers Fleeing for Cover from Incoming Ukrainian Artillery in Kherson!

Given Russia is loosing ground to the point it can't afford to rotate it's people out, that seems highly unlikely.

Back in the real world:

Russians beginning the first cauldron now that the fight for the heights of Popansa is done. If Ukraine makes a stand or not is irrelevant at this point, Lysychansk/Severodonetsk will fall.

Let this be a lesson kids, don't go for Twitter Victories over an Island of little strategic importance aside from being a Coast Guard SAR site. UkAF made a few mistakes, one it had a drone do recon, which meant it had a radiating signal that could be tracked, they had done this for days before hand which also meant the Russians could then hack the live feed as they had enough information to crack the encryption. This sealed the fate of the Mi-8 with UkAF paratroopers who got whacked by a FAB 250 as they took firing positions. Hope the loss of 3 Mi-8s with paratroopers, 2 Su-27s, and several TB-2s plus a Mi-24 were worth it.

And just so its clear, the Mi-8 was hit well away from the Helipad on the Island which wasn't even hit by the Su-27 airstrikes preceding this. If it had been a Russian bird it would have used the Helipad and its troops would not have taken firing positions while others grabbed heavy gear.

Russia continues to use the past glories to maintain control and gain brownie points. So far it is working as there is no insurgency of note after the first 2 weeks.

Serbian Volunteers in their captured Ukrainian T-64. The yellow splotches give it away as a capture.

And they lost a good and loyal pilot for their attempt at a Twitter Victory.

Well at the end of the day, Russia will focus on destroying the Ukrainian Army via firepower attrition while the Ukrainians will focus on winning Twitter Victories that do nothing for the outcome which is a forgone conclusion.

Another Oryx milestone reached. Just hours earlier it was a thousand documented losses for Ukraine, now it's hit 3500 for the Russians. Mad props!

Insight on the tactical vehicles the United States is assumedly giving Ukraine in addition to the M777 Howitzers.

Postulations that there likely won't be any large Russian amphibious operations soon.

Russian Soldiers Honor Past Glories by Destroying WW2 Veterans Home. Hopefully he'll get a box of food as compensation like other heroes!

Analysis of the Helicopter Shootdown over Snake Island. A thread.

Amusingly no.

As you can see Russia would need to capture Lysychansk and Bakhmut to have any hope of encirclement.

And well, even assuming they do, by that time the Ukraine forces would have followed their standard procedure so far and pulled back to the next line of defense.

But of course this doesn't address the fact that Russia's actively about to get it's Izyum forces encircled.

Putin's speak before the parade was...interesting; missed the first few minutes, but the ending bit...I think he is trying to save his own ass from internal rivals, and very few of the people in the stands look impressed.

He's made sure to say he respects the US, Brits, and France in international work, and he said something to the effect he wished Western WW2 vets had been able to be present, but were banned from attending.

I don't think he understands most US surviving WW2 vets would probably very much like to kill him.

Edit: Also he said the US threatened to use nuke's first in this situation, and I remember hearing that Trump threatened to nuke Moscow's gold dome's if they moved on Kyiv. So he might actually be telling the truth, but hey, the threat worked while Truimp was in office. He brought the Nork's to the table through similar stuff, he wasn't scared of Putin.

Putin looks like a scared, ill man who has bitten off more than he can chew and is trying to keep up his own narrative while not pushing any farther internationally.

The WW2 vets thing was weak, but domestically acceptable olive branch, even if it's pure BS.
