United States Desantis or Trump: 2024?

Trump's biggest problem is that he never knew when to shut the fuck up.

Yes people liked that he could be a bull in a china shop. So did I.

However, there is a time for that, and there is a time for finesse, a time to take a win, or let others walk into a mistake.

Trump rarely utilized the latter and spoiled things that would have been big wins if he could just shut the fuck up for five fucking minutes.

I'm exhausted thinking about it. Trump was a shitty president. I've been on this planet for 36 years and he is the LEAST shitty by a wide margin, but Jesus dude, just stfu once in a while.

One of the biggest examples I can think of was that shit show of a debate. Biden can barely put together a coherent sentence. Shut up and let him talk so you can tear him apart in a satisfying way. Come on, man! (Yes that was intentional)

Ugh. I'll vote for Trump if he wins, but yeah, DeSantis would be far better.

And they didn't slight him enough before? While the Executive branch was actively investigating him? Look, I'd love to believe he'd take a sledgehammer to the federal government, and if I knew he would do it, I'd vote for him over Dave Smith (the likely libertarian candidate). But I quite simply cannot trust him to do this until it has been done.

Before he moronically thought he could negotiate with these idiots. Also his cancer riddled neocon son in law won't be around this time to mellow him out.

At least this is what he's claiming. That 2025 and beyond won't be about business as usual but vengeance.

If he's not talking out of his ass, excellent, if he is? Eh four more years of him raping China commercially benefits everyone.

Also, his promise to start executing drug dealers? Not something I support at all, and a major turnoff. The US lost the war on drugs long ago, IDK why people keep wanting to fight it.

Boomer moment, you know he probably looks at Singapore and Barbados back in the 70s and is like "yeah we can totally achieve that here."

Which y'know no.

Honestly?

I want Trump, just to focus all of the Hate and Vitriol on the part of the Left so they go even more insane. Trump goes wholesale swamp deconstruction and investigates everything. Desantis should be the reasonable voice in the ranks. Once Trump exits Desantis can come in and garner all the people under him.

Owning the libs has never worked. And trump doesnt have the power to drain anything.

I think if you want trump to be a distraction he should e Desantiss VP. DeSantis will handle all the policy stuff and make sure things run smoothly Trump not would be responsible for morale.

The first rule of combat don't think someone doing something good for you is an ally. They can be an enemy playing the long game on you. Standing up to Disney Big whoop. Disney knows that a Governor will be out of office eventually. And they have can wait them out. Congress critters tend to be in bed with corporations to begin with. They make money off companies like Disney. Remember any decision made by a politician can be unmade by another politician.

Nope I don't trust him. You may trust him. But it would take way more than what he has done so far to trust him. My gut tells me not to trust him. And It has never been wrong when it comes to politicians.
I mean every political office is temporary even the president the only way to avoid that would be to rip up the constitution and have a king and dictatorship.

Reagan. Look, there hasn't been a bunch of decent republican presidents recently, but that doesn't make Trump good. He was pro the red flag law, pro lockdown, pro a lot of violations of individual freedoms. He was one of the best on foreign policy, but still helped the Saudis invade Yemen, so still too much of a warmonger for my tastes.

Trump a Warmonger??? Dude are you smoking Crack??? As for Yemen let's just say there is no love lost between me and that country and leave it at that. And Trump only wanted to lockdown for 2 weeks. Because at the time no one knew how bad the Wu Flu really was. They did not want Spanish Flu 2.0 to happen again. And Trump was so Redflag law that he seized everyone's guns...... Wait he didn't do that at all. As for Reagan I will say Iran/Contra and leave that on the table for ya. I declare you people are like the Isrealites following Moses. Always bitching and complainng about the guy who is actually helping you. And you wonder why for the last 20 years Conservatives have ended up with a ton of politicians that just talk the talk but don't do nothing. Even the ones that are good Governors on paper screw the pooch in the White House. Trump was different because he did not follow what previous politicians had done. He actually tried to do what he said he would do.

Is he less of one than other presidents? Definitely. Did he still monger war nonetheless? Yes. Quite bluntly, that's a bar no president in my lifetime has passed. The US has no fucking business bombing Yemen. It's horrendous that we are there.

And Trump only wanted to lockdown for 2 weeks.
Not true. He was the person who initially said that, then kept expanding the length. Here's him doing it in April, well after the supposed 2 weeks:

Here's him extending it to April 30, from the supposed 2 weeks in March:

And Trump was so Redflag law that he seized everyone's guns...... Wait he didn't do that at all.
Yeah, because he was stopped from doing so. His instinct was seizure though, and that's dangerous.

As for Reagan I will say Iran/Contra and leave that on the table for ya.
Also not a great fan of Reagan either. But he's still better than Trump.

Again, in the past 30 years, you've had the option between NeoCons and Trump, so of course Trump seems like a breath of fresh air. It's not that Trump's amazing, it's that the Neocons were awful.

Look, is Trump the best president of my lifetime? Yes. But that isn't exactly a high bar to clear.

'Attempted to do', you mean.

The only real, lasting legacies of Trump policies/decisions are his/the GOP's SCOTUS picks, which isn't nothing given what happened with Roe v Wade, and him giving nuclear tech to Poland.

Most other things he did or attempted to do have been reversed or halted, and he still won't admit 'his' vax's are doing serious harm, even if the Dems are the ones mostly forcing mandates.

If Trump's the GOP candidate in 2024 I'll vote for him, however it will be reluctantly, not happily, because I know Trump's temperament won't have changed at all and his ego will still end up undermining a significant amount of the progress he wants/attempts to make.

DeSantis has all of Trump's high points, all of his significant politics from what I've seen, and none of Trump's need to feed his own ego or boast about/engage in petty shittalking that only distracts from actually accomplishing much. Trump is, after all, the same man who once tried to trademark the phrase "You're Fired.", and his win in 2016 was more an anti-Hillary vote than an endorsement of Trump.

Trump is better as a kingmaker and private citizen who helps boost candidates who embody what he tried to do in his time in office, but don't have his baggage.

Then we will have to agree to disagree. You may want Desantis. But if he is the option I may for the first time in my voting life stateside. Sit and election out.

I want Trump to run again if only to fix the Economy and keep us out out of Foreign wars. Our allies and enemies alike respected Trump. They didn't like him, but they respected him, because they never knew which way the guy would jump. In this way he perfectly incapsulated the Mad man theory. But it can not be denied that with Trump in office, the world was stable.

Joe Biden has literally pissed that all away in only 18 months. We are much weaker internationally, economically and politically. Trump could still do it, but now our hand is just weaker.

What I want from him though is to turn the economy around and get our energy independence back. Our economy was booming! Everyone knew Trump would do well with the Economy, but everyone was surprised at the speed at which he did it. We need that again. Dear God do we need that again....

But after that? then we get 8 years of Ron DeSantis. Which will be very good for the Nation if we go by what he's done in Florida.

I'm curious. What bugs you about Desantis so much you'd stay away completely?
1: The Media are pushing conservatives to vote for him instead of Trump. Strike one

2: I am getting Mike Pence vibes from him. Strike two

3: Every conservative is pitting their hopes on him based only on things he did in his state. Ignoring the fact other Republican Governors have done the exact same sort of base rousing thing only to go sideways once they get to Washington. Strike 3.

I have lived long enough to know not to ignore any bad feelings I get about a person. Said feeling have always proven right about a persons motives in the end.

Ron De Santis is a Nixonian Republican.

That right there should tell you everything you need to know in regards to what Ronnie D is about.

Edit- not that I'm saying he'll go straight neocon, its just that he's a fucking snake and people should realize that.

It's just that, right now he's "our" Snake.

I'm honestly past the point of being nice, not after the censorship and all of the other crap. If it takes a snake to make all of this end so be it. I am just so done with all of this nonsense.

Right, that's why Nixon won two terms and 49 states in the last term as a spite vote.

That could very well happen with Ron.

Of course the King Cobra killed all the rats in your house. Congrats, now you have a King Cobra problem :ROFLMAO:

FWIW, as a registered Democrat, Trump 2024 might ironically be more beneficial due to his lesser efficiency (ADHD sort of does that) and also due to the fact that he might be more capable of rousing the Democratic base than Ron DeSantis is. Of course, there are also certain things about the Democratic Party that I strongly dislike, such as Wokeness, cancel culture, and racial (especially black) fetishism. I wish that the Democratic Party was more like Sam Harris.
