Russian Invasion of Ukraine 2022

Forced conscription.

This is kinda old news now, Gonzalo mentioned that people are fleeing the cities and hiding so as to dodge conscription, Zelenski basically liberated all prisoners with even a bit of military experience, which amounts to probably most inmates over a certain age, as IIRC Ukraine had universal conscription and we have had at least two posts of crossdressers and dudes self-identifying as females getting swept up, as well as men found in the trunks of cars.

As RWA said, Zelenski/Ukraine is so good at de-sovietization it can't live 2 days without Shtrafbats and Order 227

More Unverified Tweets from the Slavic ether...

Second day a cease fire and Humanitarian Corridor out of Mariupol supposedly shut down due to Russian fire.

The Governor of the Mykolaiv Oblast Vitaliy Kim apparently hanging out in a captured Russian armored vehicle. Mykolaiv being Northwest of Crimea and Kherson.

Batteries of Russian D30 Howitzers left abandoned after their transport vehicles were destroyed also near Mykolaiv.

Alledged video of a Russian airstrike in Kharkov.

Ukrainian Convoy destroyed near Western border of Donbass reportedly.

Yes, i think that's how conscription generally works.
But muh patriotic, anti-Putler Ukrainians...but muh insurgency...
If the Ukrainians were as reliable and patriotic and anti-Russian as you thought then why aren't all the pro-Ukraine twitter spammers giving us pictures of lines in front of their equivalent of draft and enlistment offices?

Also, gentle reminder to all of you fans of Slav-on-Slav warporn kino

I know it may sound weird to american, but as en European, forced conscription doesn’t particularly shock me, tough I dunno if Ukrainian still have military service to make this useful.

I think that one of NATO's requirements was professionalization of the army.

We went to that, but we still have a sort of draft process where one goes through a so called military health commission when they turn 18, despite our army being theoretically professional.

I know the Krauts have some form of 'national service' where you either go in the military or you do badly paid publicly beneficial work.

Knowing our military though, if you try and go against Russia there might be a putch or everyone catching flu.

I mean, our clown prime ministrer sacked our defense minister because he didn't like what he said about the Ukraine situation, said minister is forming a challenger party.

To elaborate here is the whole circus.

Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov on Monday fired Defense Minister Stefan Yanev for his reluctance to describe the Russian invasion of Ukraine as a war, reiterating that Sofia would speak in one voice with the European Union.

Petkov said his centrist coalition government would ask parliament on Tuesday to approve Yanev's dismissal and appoint Todor Tagarev, who was a caretaker defense minister in 2013, to the post.

"My defense minister cannot use the word operation instead of the word war. You cannot call it an operation when thousands of soldiers from the one and the other side are already killed," Petkov said in a televised statement.

As a Bulgarian all I can say to this is: "Kiro, fuck you, and fuck your mom!"

Because its stupid to do so when enemy artillery and airforce is looking for targets.
There is a whole lot of expats returning specifically to fight, even though out of all people they could have easily dodged conscription by not returning.

Half of these losses have been fact checked to either be Ukrainian Gear with Russian Markings hastily painted on, or from earlier clashes in the Donbas going back years.

But for argument, I will give you all of these.

It makes no difference at the operational level.

The UkA is collapsing and unable to launch a Corps level counter attack to extract its troops from Donbas Front or in the Northeast. As the Northeast Pockets surrender, UkA's losses will enter crippling levels and Kyiv will become indefensible.

Whatever his material losses, Putin will make them good and more when the Operational Encirclements conclude in UkA surrenders.
Also hasn’t pretty much all the equipment we’ve seen been the older Cold War stuff, for instance I don’t think we’ve seen an armata yet.

A handful of T-90s, BMP-3s, and BMD-4s. Several Pantsirs as well. None of the Armatas have been deployed and are still at the proving grounds as the Russian Army works out new tactics for them and completes a full TO&E to use them effectively.

No lack of ammo for these barrages.

No problem delivering food.

Good point, also downed Russians Pilots would not have BBC on their Uniforms, it would be BKC.

Even the tracking authorities are doubting this.

Post war, the assessments and reality will be brutal on the UkA. Followed by most Western "Experts," igoring reality and talking about Russian "Incompetence," which was intentional to achieve operational surprise and paralyse the operational movements of the UkA to where they are only capable of local counter-attacks that can't alter the operational situation.

Sanctions already starting to fall apart. Next step is Russia repudiating its debts to foreign creditors and no longer honoring IP laws.

Ukraine alleging Russian missile strikes originated from Transistria but could've originated elsewhere, perhaps to make it look like a widening of the conflict or other deception.

Russia passes law alleging up to fifteen years imprisonment for spreading fake news and spreading discord to the people.

New York Post said:
Under the law, which is set to go into effect Saturday, journalists face the potential whopping jail sentence for intentionally spreading “false” information — including using such words as “war” and “invasion” to describe the Russian attack.

Journalists also must verify their reports on the war with official Russian government sources.

Russia claims the “fake” news circulated by its enemies sows discord and divides its people, according to the Wall Street Journal.

“If the fakes lead to serious consequences, then imprisonment of up to 15 years threatens,” the lower house of parliament, known as the Duma in Russian, said in a statement.
