Russian Invasion of Ukraine 2022

At the moment the theory is that a Ukrainian USV or two detonated, destroying several road spans by targeting the piers or otherwise exploding beneath the road. The rail link reportedly is already open.

With the current Kerch Bridge oopsie apparently there are traffic jams in Occupied Southern Ukraine now as Russian tourists redeploy out of Crimea through alternate routes.

Using military amphibious warships to ferry civilians and their vehicles in a warzone sounds like an irresponsible thing to do.

Russia being Russia

Russia would love for a Ukrainian strike on military hardware carrying civilians. I'm sure they'd claim they'd sent messages along all sorts of deconfliction avenues. Such claims ranging from exaggeration to complete fabrication.

It would be a tremendous way to refocus domestic attention after the wagner debacle, and reinforce the frayed string of dangerous, offensive and terroristic Ukrainian attacks. Hard to keep hitting that note when even the majority of domestic propaganda harps on about fights "over there."

Well, guess Putin wants to see if they can make the Soyuz have a 'ground attack mode', it seems.

If only there was a way to launch a bomb from the ground on some sort of rocket engine that could deliver it to it's target via a ballistic trajectory that could be guided... Like a missile for example.

An actual space launch costs tens of millions of dollars, even in cheapass/brokeass Russia.

First documented loss of a Bayraktar Drone in months IIRC. The seventeenth one lost in this conflict so far. Though according to Russian media sources, the number of Ukrainian drones lost so far eclipsed a thousand over a year ago. Thus to date, Ukraine has suffered losses in excess of 1850% in Bayraktar drones alone. :(

A Russian Ammunition Dump Reportedly Explodes after being Struck by Ukrainian Fires in the city of Pavlivka in the Donetsk Oblast.

Well equipped Ukraine aligned Chechen Fighters apparently ambushed Russian vehicles in the bordering Belgord region of Russia recently.

Ukraine Reporting Bradley Eliminated two Russian T-72 tanks with TOW Missiles on the Zaporizhzhia front.

And when they inevitably miss Ukraine and hit some other country - you know, an actual NATO member - they'll likely instigate the war they DON'T want.
While I do recall that accuracy was among the issues with attempts to realize the "Rods from God" concept, I doubt even Russia would miss that badly.

Russia Continues Targeting Ukrainian Port Facilities including Odessa in the wake of their withdrawal from the Grain Deal. Strike included launching older anti ship missiles at land targets. Along with dozens killed and wounded, reportedly sixty thousand tons of grain have been lost.

US Officials Report Russia is mining Sea Lanes in the Black Sea.

Gepard SPAAGs purchased back from Qatar by Germany will be on their way to Ukraine in the future.

Another Russian T-90M Lost. Disabled and abandoned due to land mines, it was being recovered by a Russian ARV when drones set it ablaze.

Russians curiously operating a 82mm Mortar of Azeri origin.

A Russian Commander and Propagandist named Mikhail Luchin was reportedly killed by Ukrainian Fires. Rest in Peace.

In case anyone was curious, Oryx made a list compiling Icelandic Aid to Ukraine.

A Russian BM-30 Smerch was reportedly destroyed by Ukrainian artillery. This is only the second BM-30 Smerch documented as having been lost in this conflict (both Russian).

Three post thread of recently documented Russian losses both in Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia including many armored vehicles and artillery platforms.

Ukraine May Start Receiving the GLSDB (Glide Launched Small Diameter Bomb) Munitions this coming Fall or Winter.

Ukraine Struck the Oktyabr'skoye Airfield located deep within Crimea, striking an ammunition dump located there.

Russians Successfully Eliminated a Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate located in Odessa and a UNESCO Historical Site. The Transfiguration Cathedral is described as the foremost Church in the city, having been founded in 1794 and by 1808 was the main Church in the city. Stalin demolished much of the Church in 1936, but it was rebuilt in 1999 only for Putin to destroy it again in 2023.

The Palace of Culture in Chasiv Yar, located West of Bakhmut, was also struck by Russian Forces, reportedly with cluster munitions.

They're apparently running low on Kh-22 Anti-Ship Missiles so they're firing more 'modern' P800 Onyx antiship missiles at Odessa now.

Both are exceptionally inaccurate but harder for the current Ukrainian Air Defense in Odessa to intercept.

P800 are designed to hit warships, so don't need that level of precision. But you can also add - maybe the coordinates of the target were wrongly introduced aka human error, or EW defensive fucking the navigation system, or old missile systems are degraded. So many reasons why the missile fails a designated target during wartime are not even funny.

They have radar/inertial guidance. So they are either fired on inertial guidance alone, which they aren't meant to use as primary means of guidance hence the precision, or they do turn on the radar seeker, which in ground attack would likely go crazy with the amount of returns and probably go for the largest target it notices when the seeker gets turned on (which if fired at a naval battlegroup would normally mean a carrier or other large warship).
And that church does sound like something with largest radar return in the area.
