Russian Invasion of Ukraine 2022

Yeah great for convoy attacks.
May less to Counter UAS EW systems like that of the counter IED ones from GWOT.

@Bacle

Yeah, I've been expecting the armed drone for a while.

A few of these set up to interdict attacking drones will be pretty effective.

I wouldn't use them against troops as they'll be able to counterattack effectively.

Id be tempted to equip with incendiary rounds and target soft fuel points and tanker trucks.
It's a great environment to test them and refine the tech. Though i doubt they will be used at large scale, as i doubt they will be able to maintain the kind of accuracy needed for shooting in jamming heavy environment while also being cheap enough to accept lots of losses from jamming and shootdowns and still be worthwhile. The stabilization needed to hit stuff from a flying light drone under recoil of an automatic weapon isn't going to be cheap, compared to just slapping bombs on a drone, including such nasty evolution of that like cluster munition dispensers or mine dispensers.
If they have that kind of mass budget to take a whole machinegun, servo system and ammo reserve for it, wonder if we will see drones armed with 1-4 70mm Hydra rockets. Better range, much bigger destructive power giving it more versatility, while skipping the complex stabilization system.

After all larger, mass produced drones that can do all that and more exist since over a decade...
The problem is that such high performance drones are more than expensive enough to be worth using a MANPADS or even a proper SAM on, even if they don't get screwed over by jamming.

I too remember the old fanon admech codex /tg/ made back before games workshop actually made their own canon tabletop admech army having unintentionally predicted the invention of the modern grenade-dropping drone nearly a decade early. Sadly 1d4chan's still down so I can't dig up a copy.

C&C Generals predicted more shit again. :ROFLMAO:

This is all assuming the Ukrainian MOD's numbers are roughly accurate rather than inflated and / or deliberately conflating killed with casualties for propaganda purposes. Even France, which is supportive of Ukraine just gave an estimate of 'only' 150k killed out of 500k total casualties. Russia's military losses in Ukraine war reach 500,000 - French FM
Why French estimates should be better than Ukrainian ones, i don't know, you know, being estimates. Is France famous for having infiltrated Russian state services more than Ukrainian and other western intel? I didn't hear anything like that. I can make my own estimates too. Everyone can, and everyone can make one just about exactly fitting whatever pre-existing narrative or aspirational PR job they are trying to do.
The tire guy points out one of major unknowns in how the shitty Russian medical system is probably converting a lot more WIA into KIA than would be normal by western standards:

It would take a whole lot of Russian data being leaked to confirm or deny this theory, so much it would not be feasible to be released to the public... that is if Russia even has reliable data of that sort anywhere for spies to steal to begin with, considering the sheer amount of bullshitting they have between various organizations and command levels.
This video is currently making rounds, suggesting Russian field level leadership suggests the high estimates may be right:

Russia tried to use Cuban mercenaries as patsies in high-risk areas, possibly lying to them about their roles.
They subsequently fragged their Russian commander.

The Ukrainian MOD's public numbers that they've outright killed the entire initial invasion force twice are as trustworthy as the Kremlin's public numbers for the same reason.

Are they? Sure, they may be massaged up for morale purposes. Nah, i think Kremlin's are less trustworthy. With the sheer levels of corruption Kremlin's numbers are probably bad even before they get the propaganda treatment.
The problem is that we don't have anything more trustworthy than that. It's hard to say if we ever will have.

And if there were no anti-drone precautions in place, the web be full of "ruskie r 2 st00pid to gard against drone ZOMG lol WTF!!111" I presume?
I say - PRUDENT.

More indicative of the effects of the Special Military Operation. I don't think any analysis three years ago believed Ukraine could threaten Moscows Victory Day parade with an airstrike.
