Russian Invasion of Ukraine 2022

Dude, your link is paywalled.

Very counter-intuitive that something as simple as little metal spheres would be so hard to mass-produce. Economics of scale meaning it's more cost-effective to have a few big players do it is one thing... those big players being the only people who can do it at all is quite another.
Making little metal balls is easy. Making them perfectly spherical to within a tiny tolerance level, and making the equipment to check that tolerance level are the real challenge. In the case of ball point pens (And likely other applications, of course.) actually producing steel of sufficient quality was also a significant challenge. Quality control has long been a problem for China, and for Russia as well. China seems to be at least aware and working to fix their basics. Russia not so much. They still haven't learned that it doesn't matter if you've got a team of geniuses who can design a brilliant 5th gen fighter or super tank, if you don't have the support structure to actually make them.

So, (Russian) Martial Law now applies in the occupied areas.
What Law applied there up to now?
BTW - does this really matter? What's the propaganda point Putin is trying to make?

The Russian military was already in charge of the place. This is just symbolism I feel to justify this...

So you can engage in forced evacuations, forced labor and a bunch of other things under a legal veneer. The evacuation at the very least is somewhat coerced plus Ukraine liberating Kherson would likely involve some sort of exchange of military forces which typically isn't very safe for those who live in the area.

108 Ukrainian Women were released from Russian Custody in a prisoner exchange for 110 Russian POW's, many of the Ukrainians reporting accounts of Abuse.

Human Rights Watch Issued a Report on the Torture and Abductions that Occurred During the Six Months of Russian Occupation of the Izyum region. This includes reports of electroshock, beating with hammers, prolonged captivity in stress positions, as well as rape and 'suicide.'

Oh... and an obligatory explosion. Abandoned Russian UG-77 Mine Clearing Vehicle Went Out with a Blast... Predictably Perhaps.

Looks like Ukraine is planning to blow the Dam north of Kherson to kill their own people in support of their Invasion of Russian territory. Shocking.

Poland has Delivered 54 Krab SPG's to Ukraine Apparently.

Israel to Offer Ukraine it's "Red Alert" Rocket Notification System.

BREAKING NEWS. IRAN IS SUPPLYING RUSSIA WITH DRONES!!!!!!111

Destroying that dam puts the Crimean Canal out of action until / unless repaired since the canal needs the reservoir's water level... which means years / permanently.

The key point here, as heartless as it sounds, is that nuclear plant not being able to cool shit down; looks like Russia is trying to create a nuclear bomb instead of using one, while transparently trying to blame it on Ukraine.

This is a blatant attempt of getting around the "tac nuke usage = NATO nuking the shit out of us" problem Russia is having right now. It should be treated as such by NATO.

Russian Troops Withdrawing from the Enerhodar Nuclear Power Plant in Zaporizhzhia Region Supposedly.

Swedish RBS-17 AntiShip Missile System, which uses Hellfire missiles in a system adapted for antiship use, can be adapted into a ground attack version so the Hellfire missiles can now strike ground targets... as originally designed.

German Donated IRIS-T Air Defense System Has Already Been Used in Ukraine.

This whole story is a desperate, disgustingly dishonest attempt by DNC to use one of few causes where they can appeal to the popular option beyond own party to shore up their numbers with centrist GOP\independent voters.

In reality, if you think a minute about it, it becomes clear how ridiculous that is.
86 to 11...
Over 3\4 of GOP senators also vote in support of Ukraine aid as you can see. Even in a rather unlikely scenario where GOP gets 10 extra senators and all 10 are vehemently against Ukraine, the Ukraine aid packages could still get through easily with the bipartisan support.
House votes?
Similar story:
368:57
There are 220 D congresscritters, so there had to be at least 148 out of 212 R ones voting for it.

So even if by some miracle GOP took all seats in House and Senate, if these proportions within GOP were kept, Ukraine bills would still be passing by over 2:3 margin.

The Russians are using 122mm arty shells made this year; that means the old arty stockpiles of that type are gone.

Depends on logistics (their supply chains are atrocious, apparently), so using new shells made closer over moving old ones from stockpiles further away might be more efficient. However, it wouldn't surprise me if they were using new shells as soon as they can (manufacture and ship out) and their manufacturing supply is barely meeting their usage demand.

Smoking Accident Has Damaged a Russian Power Plant in the Belgorod region Close to Ukraine. Reportedly fifteen thousand people without power.

Interesting Looking GAZ Volga Donated to Ukrainian Forces Privately Apparently.

Long Twitter Thread about a Guardian Article Referencing Russian War Crimes in Ukraine. More investigations of accounts and evidence surfacing about drunk Russian soldiers executing civilians for reasons like 'possession of a cell phone in a house' as well as sexual violence. Civilians with the wrong tattoos, previous military service, or that had evidence of owning firearms were sent to filtration camps, facing beatings and torture. The United Nations has also documented over a hundred cases of war rape including genital mutilation.
