Russian Invasion of Ukraine 2022

The trade war was meant to dissuade Ukraine from the EU association treaty. Basically Ukraine was supposed to remove import tariffs from EU goods, which due to trade treaty with Russia could also mean tariff free access for EU goods to Russian markets, so Russia told them they will cancel the trade deal (a reasonable move) and started the trade war to pressure them (asshole move).
Ironically it was the free trade with EU that gave Yanikovich cold feet, as he realised that most of the Ukrainian industry can't compete with EU goods, so it would kill lot of jobs within Ukraine, thus killing his political career, thereby he tried to negotiate grace period with the EU, but the reply could be summed up as ''bite the pillow bitch, we are going in dry''. So he turned to Putin for counteroffer. Funnily, after the Maidan bloodshed, the coup junta got their grace period right away.

The interesting thing, though, is that AFAIK, the other members of the CIS Free Trade Area, such as Kazakhstan, didn't actually cancel their free trade agreement with Ukraine as a result of the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement. It was only Russia who did that.

Mauripol is now encircled. UkA clearly lacks the mobile reserves to continue its counter-attacks.

UkA can sting, but not stop the advance and must decide quickly whether to save the army east of the Dnieper or lose it along with Eastern Ukraine.

Edit: used wrong twitter piece. Fixed

Really? Do you have details on that, I'd like to read more.

bandits as new commie elites - one of book of Gontarczyk about AL/commie partizants/ made on commie reports.Such as they captured on enemy 2 watch and dress.

releasing bandits - i unfortunatelly forget title, but our leaders did so.Well, all prisoners. With exception of at least few political enemies - i read about some imprisoned polish officer who was schot by his guardians.
Against,forget title.

Such responses were predictable, the west does the same thing every time. Securing the Russian border against NATO encroachment, and ending the attacks on their co-ethnics in Donetsk and Lugansk, appear to have been good enough reasons for them.

With the sheer amount of warmongering and killing NATO has done over the last half-century, nobody in their right mind would want us as neighbors.
That is rich considering all the shit that happened under the Czars, Stalin and all the brush wars Russia engaged in during the 20th Century.

And here is the tractor seen at the end of that video labeled as a “ukrainian farmer” capturing a russian Vehicle. You can see the same “Z” on the rear door. Seems like blue on blue.

Some random stories popping up over the past long while...

Russia is rewarded with being not invited to FIFA 2022 in Qatar while the rest of the countries are still compelled to participate.

Vladimir Putin's honorary Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do has been revoked by World Tae Kwon Do a day after the International Judo Federation announced Putin's removal as Honorary President and Ambassador of their Federation.

Newsweek said:
World Taekwondo, expressing solidarity with the International Olympic Committee, also stated that no Russian or Belarusian national flags or anthems will be displayed or played at the organization's worldwide events—nor will it, in cohesion with the European Taekwondo Union, "organize or recognize" Taekwondo-related events in both Russia and Belarus.

The announcement came on the heels of a statement made Sunday by the International Judo Federation, which "in light of the ongoing war conflict in Ukraine" suspended Putin's status as the federation's honorary president and ambassador.

No doubt he finds this very disconcerting though he is a legitimate Judo Black Belt, so maybe his heart skipped a beat with being uncoupled from them. :p

A Ukrainian mechanic whose apparently been an employee for ten years, attempted to sabotage and sink the $7.7 million dollar yacht of a Russian Oligarch billionaire in Port Adriano, Spain and seemed unrepetent in Court. His boss is Alexander Mijeev is the CEO of Rosoboronexport, a Russian military weapons company.

New York Post said:
A Ukrainian man was arrested for partially sinking his Russian tycoon boss’ $7.7 million luxury super yacht in Spain in protest over the Kremlin’s invasion of Ukraine.

Taras Ostapchuk, 55, was taken into custody on Saturday in Mallorca after he allegedly opened several valves to intentionally flood the 156-foot-long vessel, the Majorca Daily Bulletin reported.

The yacht — named Lady Anastasia — is owned by businessman, Alexander Mijeev, who is the CEO of Russian military weapons company, Rosoboronexport.

When officers arrived to arrest Ostapchuk, the crew member allegedly said: “My boss is a criminal who sells weapons that kill the Ukrainian people.”

Ostapchuk said he was spurred to sabotage the luxury yacht after seeing news reports of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, according to the local outlet.

The blood others spill does not exonerate us for the blood we spill. Particularly in the post-USSR world where the United States and our allies pretty much had the run of the planet. We had the opportunity to make things different, and what did we do with it? Bomb Belgrade, get a million Iraqis killed and create ISIS, kill tens of thousands more in other brush wars, and spend twenty years killing Afghanis to replace the Taliban with.. the Taliban.
That does not excuse what Russia is doing right now. Putin knows Russian History. He had the choice to not invade his neighbors like the Soviets did. He chose to do what all those old soviet premiers did. And he did it for oil. He can spout all the BS he wants but he did not want Ukraine to be in the selling Oil and gas to Europe market. Just plain old greed nothing more nothing less.

So now the narrative in the west has shifted to the blood and oil spiel, eh?

They tried to push the idea that Ukraine could be European shale Saudi Arabia back when this whole mess started, given the price increases in oil and the EU and USA's desire to block Russia and diversify energy suppliers don't you think that these reserves would have been tapped by now?

If the place was that rich it would have been short-tracked for EU membership and the USA would have just done what it does with Saudi Arabia - alliance and military bases.
Anyone that might disagree, be they ethnic Russians or Neo-Nazis would have received a truckload of money and a polite "please shut the fuck up" note IMO.

This narrative line is IMO wrong on multiple levels.

Sigh did you miss the part where Russia took Crimea and the Off shore oil reserves that were near that island. And did you also miss that the territory Russia says it wants is where the rest of the oil is. You know the same area a brush war has been taking place at for the past few years.

Crimea is majority Russian ethnically and overall pro Russian. Did you miss the Euromaiden revolts, the demographic maps, the overthrow and revolts in 2014, the increasing ties between Ukraine and nato/EU?

You know watching how this conflict has caused the internet to explode, I can't help but wonder at times if "Free Speech is Cheap Speech." Would people be so quick to support one side or the other in a conflict if it had to be backed up with
conscription (or defection depending on which country you lived in and which side you supported) and meant their blood was on the line? There is an awful lot of virtue signaling, butt kissing and politicking from what amounts to people hiding behind their computers and phones.

Mikhail Fridman, alleged confidant of Putin and major Russian banker born in Lviv, the Russian Federation, sanctioned by the EU. :ROFLMAO:
Well, that settles what the EU thinks of Ukraine's claims to statehood.

Back to real news though, here is Glenn Greenwald's take on the situation.neocucks and neolibtards are apparently really, really pissed at the likes of Tulsi Gabbard and Tucker Carlson, as well as Trump republicans in general. He also goes over some of the reasons behind the war, which are not 'Putin Evil', a fact surprising to no one other than the usual neocucks/neolibs/paid shills.

I hope that Ukraine will get it as soon as possible:

This would be an extremely powerful propaganda tool to use against the Russian occupiers--as in, if only Ukraine will expel the Russian occupiers, then it could resume its EU membership!

Microsoft in a Blog Post from its President, went over how they detected a "destructive cyber attack" against Ukrainian digital infrastructure hours prior to the Russian Invasion.

Geekwire said:
The cyberattacks, for their part, include a new malware package, which Microsoft calls FoxBlade. It’s a trojan that can surreptitiously use a victim’s PC for distributed denial of service attacks. Microsoft says it updated its Windows Defender anti-malware service to protect against FoxBlade within three hours of the discovery.

The attacks have been “precisely targeted,” not as widespread as in the 2017 NotPetya attacks against the country, Smith wrote. However, he added, Microsoft is “especially concerned” about cyberattacks against civilian targets in Ukraine, in areas including financial services, agriculture, emergence response, humanitarian aid, and the energy sector.

“These attacks on civilian targets raise serious concerns under the Geneva Convention, and we have shared information with the Ukrainian government about each of them,” Smith wrote. “We have also advised the Ukrainian government about recent cyber efforts to steal a wide range of data, including health, insurance, and transportation-related personally identifiable information (PII), as well as other government data sets.”
