Tucker Carlson Leaving Fox News

It sucks he was fired. I was never fond of his socialism, but him opposing war brought a very different view to viewers that they rarely could otherwise engage with. He spoke out on a bunch of things that mattered. He may have been a socialist, but he was right about a bunch of stuff regardless.

I mean... I guess you're technically correct, in the sense of "socialist" meaning anyone who advocates for government control or regulation of economic activity (which even includes a mixed economy).

But yeah; as I recall, Carlson always resorted to blaming the Neocon GOP for being too "free-market" or "infatuated" with laissez-faire capitalism — when really, they mostly pay lip service while only throwing bread crumbs to their base in practice. In truth, they're complicit in upholding a corporatist, over-regulated, fiat money-based Globalist system that squashes genuine free enterprise and gives government patronage to the mega-corps and super-rich.

No, I mean his default assumption is that most capitalism is bad. He repeated this on many an occasion: such as calling for banning AI trucks to preserve trucker jobs, hating 'vulture capitalists' etc. These are antithetical to capitalism, and quintessentially socialist: "The government needs to stop innovation to preserve jobs."

He's worse than most commentators who aren't lefties on the economy. But really, again, I'm fine with that, as his social stuff and opposition to war was a breath of fresh air.

He's a weird mix of a Uncle ted's Cabin style Ludite and a Teddy Roosevelt/Carribaen-style protectionist. I'm not particularly sure I'd call him a socialist. Just your typical Gen X'er going through a midlife crisis and IRL schizoposting.

But you're right that shit where he ranted about how we live in an oligarchy and to defeat the oligarchy and save the common man we must give more power to the artifices of the oligarchy was some weird shit. But it's also typical self-contradictory Gen X bullshit..so ehh.

Im not angry about the fact we live in an oligarky many other countries have been historically led by them. I'm mad that the oligarchs are overweaning control freaks who keep intruding into peoples lives and are on top of that grossly incompetent and manavolent.

If they left people alone and peoples standard of living was all right I wouldn't have any problems with them but its the constant fucking pushing stuff down our throats thats the issue.

Guys, seriously, can we not start on a derail about the Ukraine War here?

There's quite literally a thread (or two) for that already, and the confrontational way in which people are posting here is begging for the usual barrage of angry replies the Mods have to come in and put a stop to. :cautious:

Da. Posts Have Been Exiled to the DonbAss.

So this is different, but plausible; having your then-fiance start treating Tucker as a biblical prophet and cause a split would probably have soured Murdoch on Tucker, even without the court case.
I would take it with a grain of salt. but Murdoch is a weirdo.

If Murdock did not want to marry a deeply religious woman, then maaaybe he should have gotten to know the young lady a bit better before getting engaged to her?
Just saying...

I would take it with a grain of salt. but Murdoch is a weirdo.

The image that comes to mind...

"The fool's crazy, man!"

I knew that fox was anti Trump. The kids that took over are really really establishment. They hated whenever anyone talked about the election fraud or any serious anti establishment stuff and Tucker was one of the main ones doing it. They shut down a lot of reports that would make the establishment look bad. Tucker was allegedly going to release more Jan 6th footage but after that first bit they squashed that.

So they settled the dominion suit instead of fighting to try and quash any talk of the 2020 election and are using it as a excuse to get rid of their most popular guy that they hated. Because they couldn't just fire him for no reason.

I wonder how long they've been planning this? Certainly before dominion launched their lawsuit. They didn't really have a case so they must have known ahead of time fox wouldn't even fight it.

It cost them a lot of money but apparently they think firing their biggest draw was worth it.

What idiots. This has a good chance of tanking their network.
But... Tucker hated trump, Dominion did in fact have an almost watertight case (The judge had already indicated in pretrial that fox's actions met the bar for "actual malice".), and by all appearances they have "fired" him for no given reason. Certainly they haven't said it had anything to do with the suit. It's not even clear that it was a firing, as several sources have stated it was by "mutual agreement", which becomes more plausible if you think tucker was chafing under network limitations.

Your entire post seems very tenuously connected to reality. Which, I guess is on brand for a tucker fan. 😆

Tuker is going to be just fine and we all know it.

Fox though is going to be forced to reconize that they picked a side in the culture war and their not allowed to leave.
their only selling point was that they were the right wing news source. if they say they are now the establishment news source that is gonna turn off their viewers. they have chosen this path.

I guess this is all coming out of Abby Grossberg's Lawsuit against Fox. She was a former Producer for Tucker Carlson and Maria Bartiromo.

The article lists seven claims, and several of them are truly horrifying. Like this one:

Mediaite said:
she began working as a senior booking producer at "Tucker Carlson Tonight." On her first full day, according to the lawsuit, Ms. Grossberg discovered that the show's Manhattan work space was decorated with large pictures of Representative Nancy Pelosi of California, then the House speaker, wearing a plunging swimsuit.

💀

Mediaite said:
The next day, Justin Wells, Mr. Carlson's top producer, called Ms. Grossberg into his office, she said, to ask whether Ms. Bartiromo was having a sexual relationship with the House Republican leader, Kevin McCarthy.

What a wild first two days at a new position in the company.

Mediaite said:
Later that fall, it said, before an appearance on the show by Tudor Dixon, the Republican candidate for Michigan governor, Mr. Carlson's staff held a mock debate about whether they would prefer to have sex with Ms. Dixon or her Democratic opponent, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.

Well if it was an FMK type of dilemma, I imagine you'd fuck have sex with Gretchen Whitmer and Marry Tudor Dixon. That much is obvious. And send John Fetterman to be inducted into the excellent Canadian healthcare system where they give him a peaceful (and legal) release from his increasingly uncontrolled physical form.
